When I put down my $100 to be put in line for a Cybertruck, I did not indicate which version of the truck I wanted. When I received confirmation of my deposit, it said nothing about any particular model. I have received nothing from Tesla that said I must purchase a Foundation Series or give up my place in line. So the questions is - If I do nothing, is my invitation to order canceled or can I place my order when the non-Foundation Series becomes available. OR, must I put up a $1,000 to keep my place and wait for what I want. OR, what???? Wouldn't it be nice for Tesla to give us some guidance? Or have they not decided how this is going to work. DOES ANYONE KNOW??

I don't think any of you know. Yet it doesn't stop some from getting nasty with those with whom they don't agree. What is the average age out there?

The FS came out of nowhere. No one saw that coming. Anyone that claims to know what will happen going forward is lying.

If you paid the 1,000, they could make you forfeit it or they could put you back in your place in line and hold it until your number is called, again. Almost no chance they will just let you convert, pay a lower price, and get one of the first non-FS.
I disagree. I think that since our orders on hold will be able to overload whatever we want come July 1.

I agree with you. They will begin taking orders for non-FS but will not begin delivering them until they have delivered all the ordered FS and that will take till the end of 2024.

Your place in line is fine. Your hundred dollars is secure. You don’t have to put another thousand dollars down and when your order comes up then you’ll be able to place an order so you probably didn’t know but when you put your hundred dollars down you probably either showed either one motor or 2 Motor of cause I think that was all the options at the time was maybe three at the beginning But no problem because you’re gonna be able to order the truck your way
I had accepted that I was going to buy a foundation truck. I put my extra thousand dollars down and then I decided not to and now my vehicle is on hold and there was a representative. I talk to said my thousand dollars is fine and I’ll just move it to the next vehicle that I pick which will probably be just to 2 motor unit for $80,000 and not foundation series.

That cannot be true because then they would have to be storing all the vehicles that they’re making so that doesn’t make sense at all. They’ll be delivering them as soon as they can.

I figure it is a good guess. Basically from last December, I am saying 300k out of 2mill will buy the truck. That’s only 15% of people who reserved.
Actually, we don't know if there were two million, just that the number of uniques was just under a million (from Elon), and the estimate of orders was over a million (from multiple methods). And even then, that would overcount any of the people who ordered under multiple email addresses.

Stainless is more work to maintain if you want a super clean looking vehicle. Plus people like showing off individuality. I'll probably wrap mine in a year or so.
The Cybertruck is the easiest to clean and easier to keep clean vehicle I have owned. Granted all my rides have been black. Our X is black and you can see the dust by the time you get home from the car wash less than 4 minutes away.

I feel like if we wrapped the Cybertruck I would find it more difficult to keep looking clean.

Not sure why you are being defensive. The wrap, especially a PPF one with ceramic coating, will stay looking cleaner, longer. That's the big thing...no finger prints, smudges, etc.

It's not for everyone, but it appears a large % of CT owners feel they need to wrap them. I've seen numerous people say after owning it for a week, they decided they had to wrap it. Almost all of them near me are wrapped. I don't plan on wrapping mine, but maybe I eventually do it?
Ahh I see what you are saying. Okay maybe some of us came off defensive. :) I think for me coming from black rides that show a butterfly fart the stainless is amazing to hide dust :)

We don’t have kinds and I haven’t found fingerprints to be a thing at all on ours. I am curious why they get all over the rides.

I did not, unfortunately.
Congratulations then. C'mon, I know it's disappointing, but it's not like you're poor. ^-^

Just order the damn thing, if you like the truck enough! If you don't want the FS, still order it and then cancel it to see how things work down the line. You may loose $1K but will gain knowledge worth spreading in this community.

You don't need to order to stand in line, either. The configurator remains open to those invited.

SImple: Humidity, probably. The sweatier that people are, the more likely they are to leave staining fingerprints.

Yeah that seems logical, humidity would do that. I had not thought about this either but I tend to use my arm/elbow to close the door. Kinda do that on most vehicles now that I think about it.

Just got the truck this evening. Kids and friends were all over the truck with fingerprints. it’s humid in FL. Then it started raining heavily and I can’t see anything :)

So much for that idea.
