What I said was, "and you're going to get gas from electric pumps, with an electric starter, electric timing computer are you?" ? I don't think these emp people quite realize how screwed they already are with or without an EV.
Right, I have the same retort for "how do you charge in a power outage".

Thinking is hard

Here in Idaho, most of the truck guys who don't like it don't engage directly. But for some reason the mid 20s guys driving used sedans love to express their displeasure with thumbs down or the middle finger. I don't really care, but I often have my 8yo daughter in the care and she's started to notice this and ask questions.
I recall being that age roughly when the H2 surfaced on the market and how much I despised that vehicle. I never once did I openly disrespect an owner of one.
Last week I came out of a store to find a man and his wife standing at the back of the truck facing away from me. "this thing is a piece of shit" I heard.
"sorry, what's that?" I asked. He replied "nothing, I didn't say anything" as he and his wife both scrambled around to the driver's side of his Dodge Rebel, apparently both got the idea to drive at the same time to put their truck between us. Then the coward shouted over the top of his truck: "I said that thing's a piece of shit" as his wife made him get into the rear seat on the driver's side. Strange world.

I live in Tampa, I get flipped off at least once a week by a big truck. I also get smiled at and pictures and videos taken almost every red light all day long. At every stop sign in a small neighborhood I get people stopping to ask questions. Most people are nice. The big trucks are usually dicks. Pulling the boat last week, I got all of it. People were pissed off that I was pulling a boat with a cybertruck, but on my Sentry notifications I think I had 50+ people come up and take pictures of the videos at the boat ramp while I was out on the boat. Can't even feel an 8k boat behind a cyber beast. It's like it's not even there.

Seems like ever since I got my Cybertruck, a lot of my acquaintances suddenly have become experts about the Cybertruck. One specific friend keeps showing me threads from a subreddit called Cyberstuck and at first I asked why was he so interested in these posts when he doesn't own a Cybertruck. Then he continues to show me different posts from that thread. Now I just put a laughing emote at everything he shares. At first I didn't care but now its starting to get annoying. It's my first time owning an EV and this attention is crazy. Anyone have a similar experience like this?
I always ask people to elaborate on the exact mechanism or detail when I suspect they are parroting a false narrative.

99.9% of the time you will get something like "well that's just what they are saying".

Counter with "oh, of course, but what do you think is exact problem or solution here". They will almost immediately change the subject because they know for a fact they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about.

Just for good measure I start talking about software development lifecycles and hardware reliability testing/trials that manufacturers go through. Or just start a deep dive rant on a very nitch complex subject related to the truck. That usually seals the deal. They never want to talk about it again.

Mission accomplished. I love doing it too lmao

When folks I know send me stuff (usually false or distorted) about the Cybertruck, I usually send them more fake stuff about it in return. LOL. Better that they stay dumb and not enjoy what myself and other that understand can enjoy. I can keep all the fun to myself that way. Side bonus is that if they really wish to stay dumb about things I help them when I can.
I love this!! I'm going to start doing this. Thank you!

I've had a few jealous bullies that couldn't help themselves but to let their emotions get the best of them. I just give them this little lie and it shuts them right up...

It was so funny watching this one guy scowl at someone's CT in a parking lot. He scowled walking towards it and continued cranking his neck walking past it because he couldn't stop staring at it.

Like I said, some people just don't understand the feelings that are going on inside them when they see something new and intriguing. Haters are just the ones that are so stubborn that they need to prove that the feeling is disgust and hate. Likely why they obsessively think about CT because they're just spinning brain cycles endlessly rationalizing.

yep. I get told "FIRST QUIT CALLING IT A TRUCK" Or,, I'm Gay. Or it's not really american, or I cannot use it. At first very upsetting but then I just use it and it proves itself. The problem is when haters scream at me driving it through town. Bend is supposedly very "open" but wow. I just LOVE that truck though.,,, its is just incredible so WGAS. !! Rock it.
If you have issues in Bend I can't imagine ever driving in Eugene, now that's a town of haters.

lol, I’m seeing this even before buying the truck. Some of my friends know that I’m an early reservation holder. They bug me often when they see these FUD MSM campaigns. One day I said it’s a Tank, and they said yeah water tank. The other day I said it’s so hot and cool, they said yeah it’s a refrigerator. Then I said it’s bullet resistant, they said not the glass! Really!! ?

I learnt this simple technique somewhere. I keep it BFF - Brief, Friendly, and Facts. Nowadays I just say “I don’t see that as a problem”, or “Majority of people on the forum are happy”. Just tell them the fact in a friendly manner without turning it into a debate. Turn it into a humor. Tell them how they are naive to buy into MSM ?

You can’t keep unfriending your inner circle if they are buying into false media. If they are really jealous, then yeah totally cut the cords or keep distance. Stoic philosophy books are really good in teaching some skills on how to handle negativity! Your brain cycles and time are far more important to be not wasted on these conversations! If you let their fear get into your skin, you might start second guessing your choices, and next time you won’t be confident. That’s the sad part of being surrounded by naysayers. It can change your attitude and confidence in the long run. Don’t let that happen.

Also, I don’t have time for those who hate Elon like that … every time I ask for one specific thing they hate about him (usually my left leaning friends), they can’t produce one specific example… they just don’t want to admit he doesn’t align with their politic bubble.. at least my right leaning friends can give their reasons - “electric cars are dumb” ??
Here I am in the middle just enjoy driving a car (Y, 3, soon to be CT) for the first time in my life
Interesting, I'm in San Diego, and exactly the opposite is true for me. ALL of my right wingers are so against EVs and/or Elon, one is even upset with me that i got a CT, and ALL of my lefties either already own Teslas or other EVs and are big Elon fans and several even own tesla stock.

Ya. Same. When I provide them specific examples and cite sources they can look up showing what they are saying is baseless they simply pivot to something else they hate about him and the cycle starts again. The basic misconception seems to be that he grew up rich and privileged and is only successful because his parents were rich when he was growing up. Not true. But haters gonna hate. Funny how some smart people don't want to learn about someone before hating them.

Ya it’s strange up here in Oregon. I love both sets of friends, but maybe Oregon is a different type of left..? I hate politics so I won’t go down that rabbit hole on this forum. I think teslas are awesome and I am excited for my CT!

I haven’t even received my Cybertruck, yet friends and family keep forwarding those type negative articles to me all the time as if trying to discourage me from taking delivery.
I once had a test pilot friend really try to talk me out of taking a job offer. I was pondering it and concluded he was just jealous and didn’t want me to succeed.
I’m pretty sure I was correct.

I think it’s jealousy and tribal ignorance. You get some really weird reactions from people when you achieve something that they want but feel is out of their reach. I still follow the CT forum. I cant afford it right now but I definitely want one. I wasn't much of a tesla fan until just before the CT was announced. It seemed like a niche product that I couldn't relate to. A co-worker from India coaxed me into taking a ride his model 3. I was sold. Fit and finish were great and performance was outstanding. But the Wow factor was massive. I have a long commute. I went inside the building and did some calculations and figured out the lifetime ownership cost of a model 3 were pretty close to my Nissan Rogue. Eventually I’ll be in a Tesla Sedan. Unless the price drops drastically, I don't think I’ll achieve the CT. I’ll just have to tell anyone who I see driving one how ugly it is to make myself feel better.
