wonder if new motors will fix the latest version Model X vibration issues at 40+mph. Mine is now starting at a lower speed
Apparently not. The loaner I've been driving, a newer Model X (stalkless), exhibits a rather strong shudder when accelerating hard from a low speed. I can feel it in the seat. The vibration goes away once reaching speed. Is this the vibration you are referring to? Supposedly, it's a design issue with the front half shafts.

It's in my service ticket for my next appointment to look into the vibration at highway speeds 55-65.

Based on the information provided, Tesla started producing Cybertrucks with the improved electric motor in early 2024. The exact month is not specified in the provided context. --Grok
Fantastic... I should be in the clear then. Thank you for the information.

Mine (VIN 26xx) also has a subtle vibration around 60 mph. My SC told me that it is from AT tires and it is normal... Also mine has a louder motor noise around 50 mph. ?

It's not normal. I also had a "rumbling noise" around 60 mph. My SC's first explanation was that the AT tires were the source of the vibration. It's an easy way to brush off your concern, and most likely not true. After I had my wheels balanced (twice), and there was still vibration, I suggested they use a vibration meter to quantify the vibration compared to another Cybertruck on the same drive and speeds. The result provided them with the evidence needed to get permission to replace my motors. They replaced the front motor first and retested. The vibration was still present, so they replaced the rear motor. That eliminated the vibration, although I haven't verified it myself, I'm waiting for a call to come get my truck. I'll report back. My VIN is 2356.

I got a call from my Tesla Service Center today informing me that they fixed the vibration problem that occurred at highway speeds since I took delivery of my Cybertruck on Feb 28th. I posted on the problem here. After verifying the existence of the vibration (it was subtle but quite annoying) using a vibration testing instrument, they received an okay from Austin to replace one or both motors as necessary. They first replaced the front motor which didn't eliminate the vibration, so they replaced the rear motor. No vibration! I can pick up my truck on Monday once it's cleaned and charged.

The rear motor was replaced with the new version that Tesla is offering early VIN owners the option to upgrade to for better efficiency and reliability. I wonder if my problem was related to some known reliability issue with CT's permanent magnet motor. Maybe I'll see some range improvement with the new rear motor? The Tesla SC manager said they will send the faulty motor to Austin for technical analysis.
Cybertruck 1,800ish vin number. Annoying vibration kicks in at 60MPH strong enough the steering wheel vibrates, including a resignation inside the cab. I've had Tesla Service look at it twice. They simply say all the other trucks do it. It's your large off-road tires. I have other Teslas no vibration, extremely quiet with the exception of wind noise.

I got the same comment about trucks. "Are you familiar with driving trucks?" I was asked by one SC tech. Yes, with big A/T tires. I then pointed out that the Cybertruck A/T tire tread is not that aggressive which the tech didn't contradict. My advice is to be firm, don't get emotional, raise your voice, or threaten to go to the press. lol. Just make it clear you want this vibration corrected. Show them accounts of other owners that have had the same problem that was due to a faulty drive unit. Chances are they will take meaningful action if you remain firm. It took 4 months for me to finally get the situation resolved to my satisfaction.

Replacing a drive motor is likely a $10K cost to Tesla.

I also had serious vibration at 81 mph plus that was caused by foam strip detachment inside one of the Goodyear AT tires. Tesla replaced the tire under warranty to eliminate that vibration.

I picked up my Cybertruck today at my Tesla Service Center. I drove 22 miles home including 10 miles of interstate highway. I'm happy to report that there's not a hint of vibration at any speed from 0 to 80 mph.

From the invoice:

Repair Notes: Test drove vehicle and verified customer concern. Found light vibration at highway speeds specifically at 63 mph. Performed vehicle inspection and diagnosis based on previous service visit. Created a case for more assistance and found drive units did not meet quality standards based on diagnosis and will need to be replaced one at a time. After replacing rear drive unit vibration decreased but was still present. Replaced front drive unit and vibration was eliminated. Performed four wheel alignment and verified vehicle tracks straight.

Correction: Front Drive Unit Assembly - Front Drive Unit - Remove and Replace
Parts Replaced or Added
FRONT DRIVE UNIT - DUAL MOTOR CONFIGURATION (1930000-TX-F)

Correction: Rear Drive Unit (Dual Motor) - Remove and Replace
Parts Replaced or Added
REAR DRIVE UNIT - DUAL MOTOR CONFIGURATION (1920000-TX-H)
MV BATTERY- LITHIUM ION-48V (1679931-00-F)

I was told that Part # 1920000-TX-H is the latest rear motor revision.
I don't know why the 48V Li-ion battery had to be replaced.

Ride quality seems better overall. I'm so happy to have my CT back again with the vibration matter resolved.

Although it took several weeks and four appointments to get this issue resolved, I'm happy with the service experience considering the nature and seriousness of the problem. I rate Tesla Naperville, IL 4 stars -- Short waits for appointments, responsive to my concerns, kept me informed, and friendly staff. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

They also did some other routine service on the truck.

After 3 weeks without my truck, experiencing steer-by-wire again was soooo nice.

My VIN is below 2000 and I don’t have any issues after 11,500+ miles.
I suspect that few owners of early VIN CT's have this vibration problem. None of the CT owners at the Summer Meetup in Michigan that I talked to experienced this type of drive unit vibration, or knew of anyone who did. I think that Austin engineering is still analyzing the issue based on comments that my service manager made. Apparently, there is a quality control problem that can effect both the front and rear motors because both of my motors had to be replaced to eliminate the vibration. That's odd because they are different motors. The rear motor is permanent magnet and the front is induction.
