I am scheduled to take delivery of my cyberbeast (VIN in the 17,900's) tomorrow morning and just got a call from someone on the delivery team who said they were inspecting the truck and noticed a noise coming from the front drive motor and determined that the motor will have to be replaced. She said it will take 2 weeks to get the motor in and I can either take delivery and bring it back in 2 weeks or I can let them keep it for 2 weeks until they can replace the motor. Since she said that there is no safety concern or performance issue, just the noise, I opted to take delivery and bring it back in a few weeks. Has anyone had this issue? Should I have declined delivery and asked for a new vin? what would you do?

If you say no and ask for a new vin it would definitely take longer than 2 weeks. I know because I tried.

you had this same issue?
First it was delivered to the wrong SC, then a trim piece flew off in transit, then the part didn’t come in. After they had pushed delivery another week for the 3rd time I asked if I could get a different AWD or switch to a beast. Their response was “Changing the vehicle or configuration will surely take longer than receiving the part.”

yeah that makes sense. honestly im tired of waiting so I will gladly take delivery and hope the driving experience isn't compromised until the new motor comes. thanks for the advise!

I’ve a Frunk opening issue and opted to take delivery after getting it fixed. CT gets lot of attention in anyone’s circle and something wrong with it just gets attention of a different kind! Just my opinion.

I took delivery! the truck performs amazingly. I do notice the noise they warned me about and to be honest it doesn't bother me but I will still have it replaced when available. the cyberbeast does have loud motors to begin with but this is definitely more pronounced. overall love the truck though!

I had the noise and brought it in. When they told me how long it take I asked to drive it until they were ready but was told that the motor unit could stop work at any moment leaving me stranded. So I opted not to chance it.

I had noone to tell what issues are in the truck. I unlocked the truck from my app with not a single Tesla employee around me, I hopped in, i clicked few buttons here there, inspected from outside in 2-3 min and drove home .... all the VIN package is mine now , whatever issue I face are mine to deal with them as service request.... so you did no different ... chill !!! enjoy !!! this is yours !!! your name was written on each and every part of this VIN :geek:

I took delivery of a Beast in the 17,700 range today and noticed what sounded like a bearing or tire noise coming from the front at highway speed. Is that what yours sounds like?

Update: Service said motor cutting in an out was a software issue. Sure enough I installed update 20.3 and now my beast 0-60 have improved to 19/20 success rate. 0-60 software improvement coming to 2.4s?

Also they said my wiper motor SN is not affected by the recall and that NHTSA is wrong about my vin. Sail remedy is not ready yet.
