So if we haven't gotten our CT yet will we get a dry cathode one?

As far as I've read, it's a cost savings to Tesla, not much of an advantage to consumers. It could even be worse while they test it, with slower charging speeds like the 4680 when it first launched.
Exactly. I remember the hype and envy people had when 1 version of the Model Y was getting the first 4680, then it turned out to be a lemon. Lets wait and see.

Right now my envy is directed at those "semi-solid state" 150kWh battery tested in a NIO car that got 650 miles of range.

What does dry cathold mean ?
The cathode material is usually applied in a wet mixture. It has to be baked at high temperatures and worked with chemicals to ensure it adheres to the support structure. A dry cathode is more or less just printed onto the support structure in a manner like toner from a laser printer. It doesn't require the long baking cycle or chemical treatment. It makes it much less expensive for Tesla to produce. As a side benefit, there is some thinking that the process will result in a thinner, more consistent layer enabling more power per kilogram of weight which could mean higher capacity batteries/longer range.

This is a hope, but lots of real-world applications of this method are needed to know this. We're not quite there yet. But it is a great production improvement!

There's no specs changing anytime soon

Don't think so, not quite yet! While they've made a breakthrough I don't expect any volume of a dry cathode pack until late fall
So, what you are saying is that after I take delivery of my Cybertruck, Tesla will start making the next new hottness? Yeah, that tracks.
hahaha not quiiiiiite. They made this pack before your truck ;)

But yea, nothing an end user will really benefit from. Cost savings which will bring price reductions eventually(maybe)

With the battery cell savings there is still hope for a $69,990 Tri Motor?
Totally agree that there is a path Tesla is taking to a mass affordable truck, but that is relative to market and I think $10-15k per trim isn't crazy.
