I’m sitting at a Tesla charging station in 81 degree temps of beautiful Southern California. I hear a loud weird crackling noise. After looking around, I look up to see this… Multiple cracks!!
Anyone else?? Now I have to worry about it cracking in while I drive to the SC. Still spreading as I sit here charging so I can get to the SC.

Did you have any tint added or is it just the factory glass?

Tint added to my windshield as well. Had this been an issue? I’ve got the same tint on my X and S for years and no problems at all!!

I had my front windows tinted and asked my installer about adding Llumar Air 80 to the windshield for heat rejection, he flat out refused. I know others have done it with no issues, but there’s always a chance for this kind of cracking :(

Sorry this happened, that really sucks.

Update!! Thank you Tesla Irvine. Already scheduled to get it repaired Thursday. Warranty fix. The one guy that to info had not heard of any issues like this happening but that may be the go to phrase for Cybertruck issues with Tesla. Still, no better SC than Tesla Irvine on Barranca. The window is duel pane so will not break inside.

Good to hear. My initial tint shop wouldn’t touch the roof for that reason. Tinted everything else.

Yeah, now I have to see is it’s best to do the clear tint strictly for UV protection. I wonder if that’s better or if I’d have the same problem. Please advise if y’all know.

It‘s great to hear that the Irvine, CA service center is a good one. I will be picking up my non-FS CT at that location when the time comes (2025?).

IMO you're lucky that they are treating it as a warranty issue when it has been tinted. depending on who you ask, tint can increase the risk of cracking for these large panels. of course glass can also spontaneously crack itself but it's easy for the SC to blame it on tint. you can read dozens of threads on TMC and the like about tint possibly being attributed to increasing the risk of spontaneous cracks.

Yep, but they have not fixed anything yet. I’m sure it will/may change.

I recommend 3M ceramic tinting only. Many brands of tint can overheat any window. The same thing goes for high-rise condos.

They might be honest but generally issues are not acknowledged to be widespread per company policy.

I'm aware of at least one other occurrence of this issue reported on these forums. Certainly there are others.

Bet it was Franz sneaking around…with a loose baseball.

Elon Musk has revealed why the windows of Tesla's Cybertruck broke during an embarrassing launch incident.
He blamed the mishap on the order in which a demonstration had taken place.
The vehicle was first struck with a sledgehammer in what appeared to be a successful demonstration of its armour body's strength.
But this had caused an unseen crack, Mr Musk revealed, ⚾

These issues are showing up on the forums. Mine...(I am also in the OC) the windshield glass is delaminating. You can see odd bubbles - not cracks between the layers of the glass...it has grown slowly since I received my truck 5 weeks ago.

I have a service app to replace the cargo deck - as my Divider will not fit..I will mention it to them then.

I've not tinted the glass - as simply want to avoid any 'warranty voided' issues with the glass and after-market tinting.

Loving the CT BYI. .mine has the black stripe!
