They're designed to sheer, which would indicated just how good the exo and crash zones of the tesla are transferring momentum through itself.

I disagree with you. In a perfect world, the pole sheers off, greatly reducing impact. Not totaling my CT. Your idea, that not only does this thing sheer off easily, but the cybertruck totals itself in the process seems off. Im sticking with my first hypothesis. I have 32 years of MVA (mother vehicle accident) experience, That truck has waaayy too much damage hitting a pole thats designed to fall down. It that was a thick wood pole, buried 10 feet in the ground, that would be a different story. Could be wrong, but I hope not. If CT are getting totaled that easy, that would be very bad. Ive seen too many other incidents where it's fared far better.

AFTER THOUGHT.. Watched the video fully. I think this is 100% pole. Its bizarre. I've seen these things fall down very easily and from cars a lot smaller. The amount of impact and its still standing is very unusual. Weird.

Yeah, your right, from the street view, it looks improperly installed:

Something about this image doesn't seem right to me. Those poles are made to sheer off, especially ...
The answer, as always, is: It varies. If the arms are especially long or have alot of wind load, making the bolts sheer might cause more hazards than an immovable object for a vehicle to hit.

Also, we don't know the impact, only that it crumpled the front. This may have been within the limit of the sheer, and it wasn't supposed to fall in a 'minor' crash. Or the bolts might just have cracked but not yet fallen.

We can't know from these photos.

Illya, why no front PPF only on your site or through TWRAPS? I had to buy from TSportline instead... :(
Thanks for thinking of me! :)
I am working on a full DIY wrap for the CT, but for some masochistic reason I've started it with color PPF which is the hardest version to achieve. I am not sure when I will be done as I have a lot of other things going on simultaneously, but hopefully within a month or two. All panels are essentially done but I am working on the wrap around and pressure reliefs. I know I am very late to that party though, but will eventually get into it!

Cybertruck head on crash with traffic light post in Savannah, GA. The driver was OK, but obviously the CT is totaled. This looked to be a very new delivery since you can still see delivery papers on the floor.

Glad to hear the driver is ok. My question is this: who told you not to video in a public place? I am guessing it was a police officer, who doesn’t understand your rights. These police officers are not getting trained well these days.

These poles are not designed to shear. There’s too much dangerous high voltage wires above. What you think is “improperly installed” is just the dirt level getting closer to the base of the pole.

The gap isn’t there as a weak point to shear. It’s there to provide ann opening for moisture build-up inside the pole to drain out and airflow so the pole doesn’t collapse due to rust.

The pole did its job withstanding the crash. The two drivers did not do their jobs.

I would love to find out if the truck did manage to capture anything on its camaras?
my guess is that nothing was captured or recorded during, before or after, this crash by any of the on-board cameras.
