Let me sum up the news cycle on this:

1. These EVs will kill you, the batteries are unsafe, they will just explode out of nowhere!
2. Elon bad <but I have not a single reason why, he just is>
3. He should have never drove it in the rain
4. Probably rusted
5. A <insert whatever here> would never catch on fire ... meanwhile, 400 cars PER DAY go up in flames due to a 12v fire

Hate these articles, just fuel misinformation.

just curious here. Watched a 1979 burn once (not pretty) also, have a stainless fire pit. Have plastic RC rigs,,,,. Ford had a body, fire pit is still fine and rc rigs melted a bit. Seems weird there is so little Stainless left or am I missing something. Just cannot see the whole body and steel inserts just gone.

I wonder if it’s because of the batteries potentially burning at a higher temperature.

Don’t forget, they will probably blame autopilot!

Says it was a fatal crash. May whoever was driving rest in peace. Really hope the media doesn’t use this person’s misfortune to spin a worse image on the truck or Tesla because it’s disgusting using someone’s loss of life to spew hate for their gain. But that’s wishful thinking I suppose.

Are you kidding me? I live in Atlanta and in the past year alone I saw five ICE fires. When I checked the news not even a peep. I suppose society as gotten so used to it it’s not even news worthy. Now, concerning this fire. Hopefully, the driver safely escaped before the fire engulfed the CT. If not, RIP. It is surprisingly so little is left of the truck. How hot did the flames get that it melted the whole truck?

The fires that sometimes ensue are very hard to surpress, and run VERY hot.

This is a known thing, and shouldn't be brushed aside.

Battery-powered vehicles account for a small share of car fires, but controlling EV fires is difficult. Typically, an EV fire burns at roughly 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit (2,760 Celsius), while a gasoline-powered vehicle on fire burns at 1,500 F (815 C). It takes about 2,000 gallons of water to extinguish a burning gasoline-powered vehicle; putting out an EV fire can take 10 times more.
