Very sorry to hear this... No one should lose their life in a car accident, life sucks sometimes.

As for the continuous CT FUD: the first rule of vehicle accidents, ESPECIALLY energetic ones, is to get out of your vehicle if you're capable and then assist others to get out. I don't know the circumstances here and that's not always possible. If you think gas or hydrogen would have been safer in a crash, think again, that's confirmation bias talking. ANYTHING with 650hp, no matter what fuel it uses, is going to have give y potential to be dangerous in an accident. Even electric trains without batteries on board are no exception.

Is there a funeral fund?

I had the exact same thought while i was watching the video. I keep a loaded 9mm in the center console mainly for breaking the window. I know regular window glass breaking tool won't work in CT. Hope 9mm is good enough to shatter the glass and puncture some holes for me be able to kick the glass off. after watching the video, now i am thinking of replacing the 9mm with revolver with magnum ammo。

A gasoline fire is more dangerous to the occupants because liquid fuel spreads and engulfs the crash scene much more quickly than a typical battery fire. Even if the occupants are conscious and relatively uninjured, there is often not time to escape. I saw a VW Beetle engulfed in flames as it burned three people to death, only the driver escaped. It's gruesome.

Chances are the driver was too drunk or too injured to escape (because battery fires tend to start small and build much more slowly).

Sure, you can focus on the heat of the fire, but it doesn't matter that a battery fire is hotter, either one is more than hot enough to kill you if the toxic smoke from foam and plastics don't kill you first.

It doesn't have to do with the material of the glass but how it's mounted on the vehicle.

Yeah that is what I am looking for. Everything I find says to forget about escaping through laminated windows, go to the other windows if they are not laminated. I would love to see details on the recommended way to deal with exiting through the windows on a CT, right now it doesn't seem possible.

I saw this on the news this morning.

Update: the driver died: https://www.khou.com/article/news/l...exas/285-1b631e4f-7b1b-4645-9050-0cb839aa104a

cybertruck fire after crash houston.jpg

Mon, August 5, 2024 at 7:22 AM EDT

HOUSTON (KIAH) – A Tesla Cybertruck caught fire early this morning at 7003 Fisher Road in Baytown, Texas. According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the truck crashed into a ditch before it was engulfed in flames.
God bless the driver and their family no matter what the cause.

Having sincerely said that: Here is the Fake Media's protocol for this headline:

1. If its a regular vehicle: "Driver dies in tragic accident.
2. If its a Pickup truck (and thereby probably "red" oriented) - "Hilbilly crashes truck, dies in fire
3. If its an EV NON Tesla - "EV accident catches fire, kills driver. We told you EVs are bad, you dummy".
4. If its a non-Cybertruck - "Tesla catches fire, increasing suspicions of safety of Tesla EVs"
5. If its a cybertruck - "CYBER TRUCK CATCHES FIRE" (ignore the fact that it went in a ditch first, at 1:45 am, etc).

Let me sum up the news cycle on this:

1. These EVs will kill you, the batteries are unsafe, they will just explode out of nowhere!
2. Elon bad <but I have not a single reason why, he just is>
3. He should have never drove it in the rain
4. Probably rusted
5. A <insert whatever here> would never catch on fire ... meanwhile, 400 cars PER DAY go up in flames due to a 12v fire

Hate these articles, just fuel misinformation.
You did forget one thing

Not shocked it happened in Texas, hands down some of the worst drivers in the entire country are found in Texas.

1:45AM part kinda makes me think....yeah "Houston" driver 100%.

1:45AM, they were probably going 110+MPH into that turn before flying off into the culvert. Opening scraps of what was once doors wasn't really a concern for what was left of the driver after impact.
In viewing the video of the crash scene,, a sign posting the speed limit as 30 mph can be seen. It was reported the location is where there is a curve in the road. This was a single car accident. I know this isn’t evidence of how the truck was being driven. Hopefully the crash investigation will be more comprehensive than the media’s coverage and we can deduce information from any skid marks or how far the truck traveled after leaving the road.

There is a very large crash structure and air-gap around the sides and bottom of the battery pack. A under body panel...... may have helped..... but without knowing where the battery was punctured that is just a random guess.

Seeing how well the truck has faired in 30 - 80mph vehicle crashes, even leaving the roadway and rolling in that one Texas crash, its probably a safe assumption that the vehicle was at triple digit speeds when it left the road way. Very easy to do with the power the Cybertruck has.

RIP
Thanks for sharing your insights into how the truck is constructed. I would feel more confident if Tesla or other organization published the results of comprehensive crash tests of the Cybertruck.
