I have CB beast and was waiting for poweshare.
I live in San Jose area and finally was assigned Installer company. Today I recieved their quote for a total of 8,146 dollars. I have 4,000 credit so final pay is $4,146. This looks ridiculously expensive. My panel is in the back of the house an ill have park the truck in the driveway since I don't have a garage.
Looking for some advice, I know being in the bay area I should expect to pay more than average but this looks extreme.

I was quoted $6,600+ in NJ for a single family home with one 200amp panel and a 20 foot run. After I was done laughing, which took a while, I called back the same electrician who provided the quote and asked about a 50 amp generator inlet with a lockout. Quote for that? $1,200.

I can plug in a cable from the 240v out in the bed to the generator inlet, no adapters or anything needed, and feed 40 amps from the truck to my panel. No, it's not automatic, but I'm saving $5,400.

Oh wait, but that's not all!

I can also use my $2,500 voucher on other Tesla-gear (waiting on offroad light bar, don't hate me). So my real savings are $7,900 less a couple hundred dollars for the cable. Call it $7,500 saved for effectively the same functionality.

Qmerit is a horrendous, profiteering, joke.

How does 50 amp generator inlet work. I assume it would not support the whole house, do you have to assign certain circuits

My quote in LA socal was 7300 or so. It’s a 20 foot run from the panel to the 2nd wall connector spot. Seems high but not insane to me given the length of the run and that we are in a high $$$ area

We usually get an outage couple times a year for maybe a couple hours. I really wanted to have powershare for those moments, but now i am not sure its worth it

It is on the expensive side; the extra 10 ft is costing quite a bit.
And maybe a way to help you think about it is what would be the cost without the Powershare?
That's near $4000, but that is LONG way and low gauge wire is expensive. I see 6/3 at Home Depot for $450 for 125ft.

I live on Long Island NY and my quote is great. Already accepted it just waiting for my VIN to get my equipment.
I have 2 gen 3 chargers that one might need swapping out for the UWC that’s not on the quote but should t be too much to swap out since all the wiring is already there.
I’m also doing a full house backup and I have a generator lockout already for my existing generator.
I have solar that they can’t include in the setup and I want a power wall but was told it wouldn’t work for me right now. So he will keep the setup simple so when the power wall can be added he will be already for that.
I was told because I configured my truck 6/17 I might not be qualify for the $4k install credit. Yes I have the CB on order. Here’s hoping they change their mind because if I get that $4k I would add the power wall and just pay what ever the difference is.

Thanks, yeah seems hard to justify. I read through the tread. what did you decide to do
It really helped to get other eyes on my quote. I missed how they added a Powerwall 3 in the tiny print ?

After some thought, I think I do want that and 10k out the door for it all seems fair.

Adding a Powerwall makes a power outage transfer milliseconds instead of minutes if I understand correctly. Plus a multi day outage scenario means I can unplug and drive till I find a Super Charger that works while the Powerwall keeps the home running.

I accepted the quote and am in a scheduling queue..

I have multiple teslas in 2021 I purchased 6-3C w/ Ground Teck 90 Cable, Aluminum Interlocked Armor, 1kV cable 60ft and ran it to the driveway. There I have a temporary RV Nema 14-50 , it cost me $300 with shipping. Looks like that cable is more expensive now $8 a foot but thats nothing in comparison to 8000 quote.

So your quote has a powerwall included or just installation and you would purchase a powerwall. I agree for a multiple day outage powerwall+powershare would be ideal. I think the longest we were out of power was about 12-14 hours

$1,748 for Wall Connector install. I wondered about the going rate.

For those of us fortunate to have a modern service panel close to install location of the Tesla Wall Connector, its $100 - $400 in materials plus DIY labor. So given the licensed electrician labor cost, I can see how the installs are >$5,000 for the described system.

I read it multiple times and didn't see the Powerwall 3. Is it on another page?

Make sure that you realize that this is NOT a whole house solution, you will be required to pick specific loads that must total less than the Cybertruck (and Powerwall) can handle.

And don't forget to move the downspout.
