Anyone test the Range hit from removing front wheel aero bits (aka the removable pieces in front of front tires)?

I think truck looks better without and dont have to worry about tearing them off on a curb (with auto lower enabled)....

Lousy pics and in wrong order but get the idea....

Makes it look like the "work truck" base model version most manufacturers have.

with or without them?

Dont think anyone will confuse the CB with a base model work truck...

So the range hit was...

Wil change thread title - was asking if anyone had done the testing...

Ive had mine off for 2 months and have not noticed an increase in range usage. MAYBE super minimal.

The difference will be negligible, similar to removing the mirrors. All the testing done in wind tunnels has shown nearly no difference in drag coefficient.

Most trucks without the flare look basic and the base models of all vehicles are missing trim. I wouldn't be surprised if the RWD is missing all these flaps, have the crappy wheels with the AutoZone version of the aero wheel covers, And maybe even have the hitch removed after the recent videos.

If you are making your exterior match the minimalist interior, I can't hate on that. There's also clear advantages to off-roading if that's your thing.

What? Cybertruck owners are realizing that range isn't King and that every mile doesn't count?

Model 3 wheel covers mean about 5%. I like the look of the plain wheel better. So I decided to take them off around town and put them back on when travelling.
I did that a few times and I don't really remember where they are at anymore.

This will definitely be an article title on jalopnik, you should probably edit it so it doesn't get taken "out of context" lol.
Good point, edited....

For 5% I'd keep them on (at least for trips as you said), easy on/off but sure that would get old....

I'm assuming you are a new Tesla driver?
nope, 2019 M3P - didnt do trips in that car, just commute and 100mile mountain loop fun - literally supercharged it only 2x's to date...but the truck is different - camping, dirtbike riding, up the 70 into the mountains, etc - it get's pressed a bit more so range more important so 5% is meaningful for part of my use case.....so hoping it's much less impact as others have said, 1-2% I can live with - although sure the CT wheel covers will prob be in the 5% range and not sure I'll put them on - but maybe for longer trips. I'll just be happy if they add or upgrade some superchargers in northern CO/Southern WY - then it's a mute point...but shared 115kw (56kw actual) in southern WY and no chargers off the Poudre canyon / near Walden CO SUX big time....oh and some V3+ / V4 would be awesome, but I'll settle for V3

Might not be new, but I suspect that only going 100 miles, you still have pretty good range anxiety.

You really need to get out and stretch your range and playgrounds a little more.

That is indeed desolate country. But even a NEMA 14-50 or TT-30 at a campground can help out significantly.

Lol, yes, I have plenty of range anxiety without doubt...I'm working on it! I have 3500 miles in 6 weeks of ownership, unfortunately lots of shorter trips...I typically get on a plane vs. drive if it's a longer trip (I dont have as much time as some). And I was trying to come up with a plan B - aka find a farmer with a shed with a 14-50, etc.... in the end, still have my diesel 2500 for my 13k toy hauler so it's an option and unfortunately it may be the preferred one until charging in WY get's improved...if just one of the two superchargers was a 250kw I'd be in business....I'll do several more trips before I give in, if there's a will there's a way, just need to try / learn / etc and then make an informed decision and figure out how big of a hurry I'm in on that particular day!
