Given they are offering Foundation Series in the USA to anyone without a reservation and we have Reservation Numbers here in Canada being serviced at least to orders all the way up until the end of 2021 it's probably just worth holding a quarter.

My guess that they have an end of year push in USA, Canada & Mexico to sell as many Foundation Series as they can before they switch to non-Foundation Series next year (total guess but its trending that way).

I realize that you've waited a while but it would suck if had to eat ~20-30k of depreciation by taking delivery just before 2025. Just my 2c as I've played the Tesla early adopter premium game a few times.

I had a chance to sit in the Cybertruck in Sherway Gardens. I've got a Platinum F150 Lightning that I bought while I waited for my Cybertruck. The interior of the Cybertruck isn't as nice as the Platinum, I'd say it's Lariat level interior. The doors were super heavy which was cool but I also couldn't sit in the rear seats because my head was on the glass roof. It's a cool truck but there's definitely been design compromises so I'd just temper the excitement when you make the call.

I locked my order in for a Cyberbeast in the last quarter but I'm going to rent one over the boarder on Turo before I decide. I came away with a meh feeling after sitting in it at the store and I don't currently think it's worth $160k - this may change when I actually drive it.

Rich Rebuilds covers this station quite well -

Each to their own though! Drive in happiness and good health!!
Good take, Jon. So is that how foundation works? they'll offer it to people now, but my reservation still holds for when they offer the regular version? and that series would likely be a 20-30% price reduction? Great to hear from someone who's gone through this, as this is my first time though Tesla's process.

Unfortunately, I have to wait until more in Texas (not Austin) get CTs and we see them on the streets which means a longer wait, if at all. I wonder if any of you guys have wives that will fight you tooth and nail and threaten divorce after 55 years. No discussion whatsoever period! She was all for it after sitting in one at showroom, but now something changed.

You must be a giant. I'm 6'3" and I have about 2 inches of headroom sitting straight up.

Check the video I posted, I've linked it straight to the conversation that is pertinent and I agree with Rich's closing comments - they are balanced.

If you look at the items in the Foundation Series, I'd argue that they won't effect resale value and you'd probably not chose to buy them if you had the choice - so paying the premium to be front of the queue is just that. If you want to be first then have at :).

Just as a data point and not that I'm upset because I like my Model S Plaid but I purchased it at ~$200k CAD in 2022 and you can get a new one for $160k from Tesla today.

I'm 6'4" and I found the rear seats to be bolt upright. My head was touching the roof but would definitely hit it while driving over bumps. I don't have this problem in the F150 Lightning or even the 3rd row of our Rivian R1S.

Again, not hating on the truck. Just some data points for people.

No, it's certainly a thing. I just have no ambitions of EVER sitting in the back seat of any of my cars. I can't sit in the back of my MS because of legroom, but why would I ever?

Sorry for your predicament! My wife wants it almost as much as I do, she might even order her own RWD when it's released and wrap it in pink. We both don't like the price right now though, it's gotta come down a bit.

Ok advice please.
reservation holder 2nd day just got my Canadian invite.
should I pull the trigger?
Pro :saving $ for the last 4 years about 75% there.
want FSD, listed accessories, power share etc
Live in Alberta so no sales or provincial lux tax. Hopefully no fed lux tax just GST
Con as time passes bugs will be fixed, quality will improve.
wife not a fan. This might change when she drives in it.
Questions
Estimate of the total final out the door dual motor price.
Estimate of accessories tires etc post FS
What do you think?
If I had 75% saved and lived in 'Berta with no tax I'd be tempted to pull the trigger for sure. I'm no on both of those, so I'm planning to wait for a bit. The main reasons:

-Bugs will be worked out.
-Options and improvements will be added (interior color choices, 6th seat?, red brake calipers? etc.) like all Teslas. They launched with as minimal customer choices as possible to get things rolling
-Next gen 4680 cell was expected to have 5-15% more range by the end of the year
-Price will come down.

The number of people who can afford a truck that starts at $140k is extremely small. I want to get it as soon as possible and waiting is killing me, but that much money is hard to justify especially when a price drop is extremely likely. Obviously the FS ends reducing the price, but another price drop is also likely, as we saw with the Plaid cars. They need to expand the market to justify their assembly line, and the only way to do that is to get the price down.

Update! Tesla Support for the win :) after a few days of going back-and-forth I finally got a call from a guy who was able to sort out my situation and basically transfer my US order to Canada! Looks like I’ll have a truck in October or November… fingers crossed!

Ok, one more data point to add to this thread. I just got invited to design my 2nd Cybertruck reservation that was made at the end of December 2023! This means there can't be many Canadians taking up the Foundation Series offer. I'm assuming we're seeing the end of the FS price premium play out right now.
