I think this is spot-on. I seems like half the reviews I've read state "this is my first truck."In my opinion, the reason F-150 Lightning sales are far less than Ford expected is that it competes directly with the F-150 gas and diesel versions. Having electric drive and a large front trunk isn't enough to convince a lot of F-150 gas or diesel truck owners to switch to electric. And, it seems, that the Lightning has little appeal outside the traditional pickup market.
Tesla understood this challenge when it designed the Cybertruck. It attracts buyers outside the traditional pickup market, while, at the same time, including advanced and innovative features that divert attention from the range and towing limitations that detractors claim disqualify it as a "real" work truck.
The Cybertruck is in a class by itself. If enough people find that it fits the bill as a multi-purpose vehicle, it should continue to sell well.
Absolutely nailed it. Ford went half-measure and it will definitely come back to bite them (and well deserved, too).In my opinion, the reason F-150 Lightning sales are far less than Ford expected is that it competes directly with the F-150 gas and diesel versions. Ford recycled parts they had to make a EV took out the gas motor. In shortAbsolutely nailed it. Ford went half-measure and it will definitely come back to bite them (and well deserved, too).
Sorta disagree, Ford saw an opportunity to take away some shine from Tesla and decided to thread the needle, it's kinda worked as there are people who just want an electric regular looking truck.Absolutely nailed it. Some here. When I got the email I had been looking at the model x for trips with parents with scooter.. but with the CT. I would havet to spend 5k on new mobility scooters. Also getting it now don't have to wait a few more years. Since I was 1072000.00 on the list. It’s not a novelty. I would not have bought an S or X. I wanted a truck and that is what I got to do truck stuff.
