Parts flying off - bed top surround!!

Love my CT… have over 20k miles on her in less than 6 months.

HOWEVER, the cheap plastic trim is not excusable. Broken rock guards and mud flaps are all too common. And, yesterday, my sail panel BLEW OFF while driving. Now I don’t have any tailgate or tonneau buttons outside.

I know this is a recall item, but I truly hope there is a more durable revision than this cheap flimsy plastic cover!!! ?

yes, there is a recall but the SCs I’ve been to keep pushing off the appointments due to lack of parts. Now I will need a whole new part instead of just new adhesive (which is what I believe the recall covers). ?

The Chattanooga, TN SC has a wall full of them if you're in that area.

My SC (West Covina) totally replaced my appliqués in July and is replacing them again later next week (along with another wiper motor).

Not from my asking either, I requested an unrelated small part and they setup a whole service appointment. There may have been another revision to those parts.

It’s really too bad that the SC experience varies so much from location to location.

I read that this plastic trim is attached to the truck by double-sided tapes. Are you kidding me? even my kid's toy cars are better built than that.

It’s a combo of clips and tape.

From what I’ve read, the tape wasn’t properly set during installation, leading to the parts coming off while driving.

My replacements are solid. No movement at all.

Normal ... there are some serious tapes out there, such as 3M VHB, airplanes built with this stuff.

During my last SC in Raleigh they only replaced the driver side. I was expecting them to do both sides. Ironically, all my minor cosmetic issues are on driver's side.

Get some gaffers tape to cover it up you’ll barely notice it until you can get into the shop. I had a post on this see pic I lost my other side.. this tape is great and won’t leave adhesive mess when you get yours repaired.

The recall covers the entire damage, so make sure they fix it.

Great idea! I’m not familiar with Gafers tape… available at a Home Depot or Lowe’s?

(My thought was to rip the other side off and put some silver accents on the innards so it looks like a dystopian circuit board for effect!) ?

They “fixed” mine by replacing the double stick tape. Within a few days, the tape came off again.
I replaced it with my own adhesive tape until i can get back to service.

I got the widest roll I could get… worked perfectly for two months waiting for SC parts for mobile repair. Only applied once lasted through highways heavy rain etc. and the mobile service tech said it came of so easily and left nothing under thought it was great stuff!
