Drove the Ram 2500 from LA to Napa, Sacramento and back in 3 days because I didn't trust an electric car in cross country travel never having had an electric car. My Ram now feels very outdated after a couple weeks in a CT. Nowhere near as comfortable, nowhere near as quick. And after driving the Cyberbeast for half a week while I was out of town, my wife just put the money down for a Foundation Series of her own.

Jokes aside - it's a great truck. Best one I've ever had, and I've been a truck guy since the late 90's. I feel like I've finally found a true replacement for my 2000 F150 Lightning that was my favorite truck for 2 decades. The wife is going to replace her Grand Cherokee SRT with a Cyberbeast, and feels like it's a step up in both handling and performance. Tesla really got this one right.

I am taking a 600 mile trip this weekend. I am on the fence about taking the Cybertruck. I think I am going to play it safe and take our Model X. Just don't want to deal with the "{POINTS}LOOK A CYBERTRUCK" attention while try to relax on a trip.

Your wife is bad ass to get her own Cyberbeast. I wish I would of gotten the beast instead of the AWD.

Threads like this crack me up.

People who actually drive it and own it - “ this is the best vehicle I have ever owned or driven”

Social and legacy media - “abysmal failure!!! You can’t total your cybertruck and then go ahead and try to tow an f-150 at an angle that hit its brakes at the same time!”

I hear you OP. CT is so awesome.

Just did a quick trip LA to Vegas for a week, then back to LA.

Supercharging makes the trip a non-event. The supercharger network is getting so built-out it's crazy.

Huge SC in Barstow (70 stalls), Baker (now 96 stalls!!), and a new 40 stall SC in Yermo!!

Once in Vegas, there are SC's all over the place.

I stopped in Baker each way. Plug in, set climate, go use the restroom, grab a burger, hop in and off you go.

What'll be hard for me doing the Vegas run will be not stopping at the OG Del Taco in Barstow - that breakfast burrito is my wake up call! But yeah, the number of stalls going that direction is insane!

She was actually planning on buying an X Plaid lol. The CT is such a massive leap in terms of build quality and suspension it made the X a no-go. Although the X does have a better console with the gauges in front, IMHO.

Hit it on the way to or from the SC, my friend!!

You exit Lenwood for the SC, the Del Taco is right there for you, haha!! That charge will easily get you to Vegas.

Best of both worlds, haha!!

Let's take a look at that route.
Yes, there indeed looks to be a few places where there isn't a Supercharger nearly every 10 miles.
In the "way too many to count" route, you would have only needed 2-3 to get to Sacramento.

Being perfectly honest, I wouldn't even think twice about going to Los Angelos, Napa, and then Sacramento. And that's with me starting in Atlanta.

But then I haven't had an ICE in 8 years, just no need nor desire to have one.
That's only a 450 mile trip.

Yeah there’s no issue with SCs in Cali, even west coast on any major corridor there are many. I just did a 950mile roadtrip towing a trailer from NorCal to Canada and back and there were no issues with SCs along the way, I can’t imagine it being an issue if you weren’t towing. If you really want to plan it use an app like ABRP and it will show you exactly what stops to make and for how long if you are worried

They crack me up because the new owners are still afraid to roadtrip an EV bc they have yet to completely shed the EV misconceptions.
Go ahead and break the cherry and take a road trip. If you aren't the type to run out of gas, then you won't run out of battery either. Plus you can recharge anywhere with an outlet, you can only get gas at a gas pump

To be honest, the reason I didn't drive the Cybertruck was because my Ram has a 500+ mile non stop range, whereas the cybertruck is roughly 250-300. When it's a quick turnaround, I didn't want to have to think about recharging. My next trip up there will be with the Cybertruck, and I'll learn how it does.

Like I said, I love the CT. So does the wife - I didn't think anything would get her out of her Jeep. The steer by wire, the acceleration, and the overall quality are A+. Is it perfect? Of course not. Rear visibility sucks. And it can't tow my trailer to Big Bear and back without dropping the trailer somewhere to charge. That's fine - no car is perfect. The Cybertruck comes damn close though, and if they ever release a 500 mile version I will dump my Ram and be thrilled to be back to one truck.

I don't know how you did it. The last time I test drove a new Ram 2500 it was slow by truck standards. The range is what's holding me back on the CT. I've been looking hard at the RST/Sierra EV for that reason. To me at $100k for CT with 320 range or 450 range for the same price I'll take the bigger range. I'm just kind of holding on to see if CT dual motor drops to $80k before I have to make my move.

EVs (with FSD) are a no-brainer over Gas for a road trip.
You'll soon learn you don't need/want 500 miles range (unless the battery weight and charge time are cut in half). You really get about 200 miles between superchargers, but we end up stopping more frequently anyway. Unless your a madman in your 20s that only stops long enough to pump â›˝

Problem with GM EV truck range is that they achieve it with a way too big, double sized battery. It's so much less efficient than the CT that you spend more $ and time charging. If you come home at 10%, the GM wouldn't even be full by the time you get up the next morning. And road trips have you waiting up to 2x as long at each stop.
