We own both a new FS CT & 2022 MYP, and even though we have a very large garage, we only have one garage stall, however, we also have a very large covered carport. A Universal Wall Connector serves the carport, while a mobile connector serves the garage. Also, the UWC is supported by a pair of PowerWalls, a Gateway, & non-Tesla solar array.

The CT barely fits inside the garage with just enough room to open the tailgate when backed in. Our dilemma is which vehicle gets to live outside during the winter until the PowerShare update gets released? I say that because I am pessimistic it will arrive before winter hits.

What do you folks think?

the SS will not corrode
Actually, I am not concerned about corrosion. My primary concern is battery health as my garage is much warmer than normal ambient winter temperantures. Perhaps the best solution is to rotate them every couple of weeks to balance out any harm that might be done to the batteries.

The mobile connector will keep your battery conditioned if plugged in. It won't charge your CT very fast though. Park whatever needs more charge inside.

The truck bms will prevent this from being an issue, but it will draw power to maintain healthy temps. Just keep it plugged in and you'll be fine outside

Also, if you live where it's cold, be sure to preheat the truck before driving to help with cold weather range loss. It's not perfect, but it does help

Edit: here it is https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/model3/en_us/GUID-F907200E-A619-4A95-A0CF-94E0D03BEBEF.html

Scheduling or manually preheating also heats the battery to an efficient temperature for driving. The big draw back being power draw to do so. So keeping it plugged in while stored outside shouldn't be a problem

I would also account for neighborhood safety. If you think someone can break into the car and open the garage door, it’s better to keep it inside. Battery drain and convenience of charging are some other points to consider. If you get lot of rain or snow, keeping inside makes sense.

btw, just curious, what’s your garage length? CT only needs 19.5’ of floor length. Even if it’s tight, it should be fine unless you need to access space on the other side.

The car will largely take care of itself in the cold although there are some things you can do if you want to optimize.

They will both be plugged in to 240V, that's good because it allows for pre-conditioning the cabin before departure. This also builds some heat in the thermal management system so when you drive off the batteries are already being warmed. Anything you can do to prevent high draws on the battery when it's frozen is good. That's why pre-heating the cabin is beneficial, it puts the peak electrical draw on grid power, not the cold battery.

Good point regarding neighborhood safety & access to the garage door opener which is an old school remote because I’m too lazy to set up myQ Right now. So I need to secure the remote in the house.

As to garage length three pictures worth thousands of words.

Agree. I always pre-condition except when the mornings are warm, which means the garage is nice & toasty.

Honestly that’s way more space than what I have in my garage. I only have 4” in the front and rear, and parking outside is a deal breaker for me. I’ll soon be getting a CT. Most standard garage length is 20’ with 19.5’ usable length. CT is designed to fit in. Ford won’t fit. This is one of the least talked about things in the Cybertruck. I had started a separate thread on this topic. If I were in your shoes, I would totally park it inside except when frequently accessing those items. Just be careful around the sharp edges of the truck!

Don't worry about the cold and battery health. Sitting outside in the cold and driving without pre-conditioning will hurt your efficiency, but it won't hurt your battery. Last 4 years, Model X stayed in the garage and Model 3 in the driveway. Now Model Y will stay in the garage and the CT in the driveway.

I would park the CT inside; the MY is much easier to keep clean. Also does your tonneau leak (I know there is a fix), I would not want the constant hassles of puddles there.
