1,200 Wh/mi for Cybertruck pulling my boat results in 100 miles of total range. Really hopeful for range efficiency improvements and the range extender.

And if the Wh/mi wasn’t bad enough… Charging with a trailer!? Ugh. Why don’t more charging stations have the pull-thru pedestals?

55kWh used = 45%
Plus 12% left = 57% starting SOC.
Temperature is 62F and, I assume, was colder last night.
Did you precondition cabin from AC before starting trip?
If you had the Supercharger as the destination, preconditioning to charge chews up a lot of battery.

No EV at this time is good for rush long distance towing especially for non aerodynamic objects. This is nothing to do with cybertruck. even it holds the promise of 500 miles range, it only gives you additional 50 miles in max range for towing your boat, no much difference if towing long distance.

1,207 Wh/mi average over 234 miles. Didn’t use A/C or preconditioning the entire trip. Max 67mph, 90% highway without stops, minimal hills in Michigan.

Probably should have kept under 60. I would tell you before I had my cybertruck, we pulled our 27’ Keystone Bullet (7500 lbs) with a sequoia and when I went over 60, we got 5mpg and a range of 120 miles. When I dropped it to 60, we got 8-9 mpg. Same with the cybertruck. We have gotten 125 miles/charge keeping it at 60 mph. When you drive a vehicle over 60, it absolutely effects the distance traveled per charge and diminished efficiency. Also, most trailer tires are not rated for driving over 60 MPH anyway. Just my 2 cents

Yes! This ?is exactly what’s needed to make EV towing viable. Aero drag/physics is the problem. Not Cubertruck. Even if the range doubles, you will get 200 miles with towing. I’m sure most will not be happy with that range either for long distance towing. It’s a hassle to hitch/unhitch every 180 miles, and good luck doing that in any charging network other than Tesla. Pull through chargers is what we need along with self propelling drivetrain trailers. That’s the only way to make EV towing practical for long distance towing. Anybody tries to convince you otherwise has probably not done long distance towing. Even gas mileage is cut down by half when you tow with ICE vehicles. It’s not a problem because you have gas stations everywhere. Similarly we just need pull-through chargers everywhere! It’s a matter of time. Infrastructure is not there yet!

Because most charging stations were designed and built before the idea of hauling a trailer was conceivable. And Since Tesla fired most of its supercharger team, they won’t be making many more.

The team has been rebuilt/rehired.

This is good news, I hadn't heard this.
Isn't it amazing that the social media press never publicized it?

Yes, they rehired one of the previous higher echelon guys and he then has rebuilt the team. And new sites are being acquired and new Superchargers are being installed.

Nice! Glad to hear that. I hope they prioritize pull through chargers. It’ll be a game changer for EV tow vehicles!

I'm guessing that real estate is a big player in that choice. Pull-though as to have a lot of it. Not only a parking space on either side, but enough space to swing a trailer around and straighten it up.
I know one new two newer ones near me aren't, but another one is.

The boat appears fairly large. The consumption rates are appreciated, but if you provided a more complete picture of the boat with trailer and also provide their weight, that would also be even more helpful while providing important context.

You are right. Real estate is the major bottleneck for pull-through chargers. I personally think that if Tesla can cut a deal with local counties to install Tesla chargers at Rest areas, it’ll significantly accelerate the pull-through charging network. I know not all places have rest areas, so they should continue whatever they are doing, but leveraging existing pull-through network to repurpose rest areas has high ROI for everyone, IMO.
