Tried multiple Francis Energy locations this week driving thru Oklahoma with no luck. CSS - Evject connection - Francis Energy customer service had this response “That is surprising to hear about the other charging networks will work. The last update I received was we were waiting for Tesla to make an update that would allow the newer batteries to connect.” Anyone else able to get a Francis Energy to work on Cybertruck? It’s a Tesla SC black hole in Oklahoma Panhandle & Southwest Kansas.

I have tried Francis charges in 4 different occasions. Each time I called customer service and the agent tried to start the charging remotely. Each time it failed. The last time I sat at the charger for hours awaiting a call back. The agent said someone would be calling me back to resolve the problem.

After several hours I received the email below. I was stranded in Antlers Oklahoma and found a nearby mechanic that let me use his 220v welding outlet.

It seems Francis has an issue they need to rectify, but they had no timeline to share.

Francis email below. ——————————————-

Hi Ronald, I see you have a Cybertruck registered as your main EV on the account. I know in the past, most Cybertrucks had success connecting to our level 2 chargers but ran into issues on the level 3 chargers. I apologize for this inconvenience. If you have not created an account, please go to https://driver.francisenergy.com/signUp.

Update 2025.38.3.2 may have opened up these old Francis chargers for us. According to Grok, the update includes improvements related to initializing at third party chargers.

I live in Dallas and frequently travel to Norman. Because my CT won't charge on the Francis Energy chargers, I have to top off in Ardmore to have enough juice to get back to Ardmore or Gainesville. I was coming back from Norman yesterday and was planning to push it to Gainesville. However, one of my passengers had to pee so I stopped at the Davis exit and went to the Phillips 66 on the East side where they have 4 200 kW chargers. I have tried these before and they did not work (failure to initialize). However, as long as I was stopped, I plugged into the #4 charger and was shocked when it worked. I expected it to fail but after waiting for the initialization, it worked. It pushed right up to 200 kW. We went inside and had a burger at the A&W and by the time we were done eating, we had enough juice to make it home with 20% to spare.

I got the update last week and am wondering if that was the difference maker. Can one of you with the latest update, 2005.38.3.2, check and see if we now have access to these older Francis 200-350 kW chargers? It sure would make my round trips to Norman more efficient if we do. I am hoping this was not just a fluke.

Thanks.

Can one of you that lives in OK

I can confirm as of 11.9.2025 that the 200kw francis chargers are still inoperable with the cybertruck, however, I was able to have a successful charge with the 50kw chargers (the small boxy ones) it saved my tail on the way to henryetta.

I wanted to drive to Dodge City from Tucson with my CB. There are no SC that would allow me to make the trip. SW Kansas and the panhandle are indeed a block hole. Garden City has some other brand of chargers but I've learned to trust Tesla SC so I don't get stranded. That area is rural and they don't really think too much of EV's. I know since I was once one of them.

I have had success with the 50 kW chargers. There are 2 at the Rudy's on Hwy 9 in Norman that work for me. I was surprised when that 200 kW charger worked for me. I am headed to Norman again in a couple weeks. I will see if I can try it again. I can get to Norman with a 25% SOC, but it is a black hole getting home. If these Francis chargers worked it would really fill the gap as I can't get back to Ardmore on 25% and I am not going to OKC just to turn around and head back to Dallas.
