OK. I've mentioned this before on other threads but decided to start a thread about this subject to see if anyone else out there has experienced this. I have my truck set to auto-lock and put up the windows when I walk away. About half of the time it works and I only get about 10 to 20 feet away and the truck makes the lock sound and rolls up the windows. The other half of the time it does nothing and I have to get out my phone, lock the truck and roll up my windows manually. This is super annoying and I'm often checking my phone while I'm in the store to make sure that it's locked. I've tried to recreate why this might be happening but I cannot. It seems to come and go in streaks (it'll work fine a few times in a row and then it won't).

Mine seems to work fine. Check the menu perhaps you have exclude work / home box checked. Also it won’t work if Bluetooth isn’t “on” on your phone and app open. Issue could also be with you phone.

Mine does the same thing so I'm following this thread. Mine also doesn't unlock at times when I try unopening standing at the door.

I have the same issue but I found out it was the passenger front door. If that door is closed last the walkway lock works fine. Otherwise if another door is open and closed then the walkway lock does not work, it’s my presumption that the air pressure pushes the front passenger door out just enough and the sensor needs to be adjusted for that door. I have a service appointment Tuesday to verify that’s the case and see if they can come up with a solution.

Check, check and checked. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Doesn’t walk-away lock require the Tesla app to be running in the background? I’ve had older phones with low memory that couldn’t keep many background apps active.

I've walked away from the truck with the app open multiple times just to see if it would make a difference. Thanks for the idea though.

20 ft away isn't often far enough. Get much further away.

That's because the vehicle isn't hearing your phone.

First, do you have the phone set to not put the app asleep?
And next, make sure that the phone has clear sight to the vehicle.
I carry my phone in my back pocket and it commonly can't be heard by the vehicle until I turn around and "present butt"

I've never had this issue with a Samsung phone on any Tesla model.

I do believe this is a phone connectivity issue, but never had to present my phone for it to lock or unlock in anyway.

Do you have a seatbelt latched? That keeps it from locking etc too

It could also be an issue with your occupancy sensor in the driver's seat, which uses weight. It won't lock if it thinks you are in there.

Good for you.

But it is an extremely common issue that surfaces multiple times a week in different forums for years.
It's not as if my response is at least the hundredth time I've typed it, and I'm not exaggerating.

It really depends on where you carry your phone and how you approach the vehicle.
Phones in back pockets and in purses are notorious for not being heard.
Approach the vehicle from the passenger side and it's also an issue.
