Highlights-
-FSD was incredible
- I got better than range estimates which is a big departure from my model x.
- Saved 5 hours of charging vs 90D 2016 model x.
- Got my Valentine 1 connected by grabbing a USB-C to USB adaptor and then hooking in a USB to cigarette lighter adapter. The cord stretches over the mile wide dash but it works without any custom install or connecting to wiring in the mirror.
Downsides -
-cannot drive with my legs if my hands are full. (I probably shouldn’t be doing this anyway)
- Supercharging was more expensive than I expected
- Attention at every stop
the x has free supercharging for life but the improvements made on the truck makes me want to spend the cash on fuel
I can say I’m blown away with how improved this version of FSD is over what I’ve used in the past. It took round abouts and handled construction perfectly. When lines stopped for on and off ramps it didn’t hesitate like it used to.
the biggest upgrades from the 2016 Model X is being hands free with the camera system recognizing your site line and phone use.
Between Boston and New York I was shut out because I was trying to hook up my radar detector. I drove that stretch manually and reset FSD in Ny.
Over the 1800 mile trip I only needed to intervene two times. Once it missed a rural exit and wasn’t sure where to go. The second was on a dual turn lane next to a semi. When it got in front of the semi taking a wide turn it tried to cut it off pretty close. I took over early so not sure how it would have adjusted.
the only other restriction that disabled it was going 90+ in Dallas (the speed of traffic). It exceeded FSD maxes and shut me out again.
overall crazy satisfied and very surprised by how good it was. Previously I thought FSD may never happen. Now I think it will happen very soon.
I’m not sure if my friends enjoy watching it drive or us gunning it 0-60 haha. I got the beast and am perma in beast mode.
