Highlights-
-FSD was incredible
- I got better than range estimates which is a big departure from my model x.
- Saved 5 hours of charging vs 90D 2016 model x.
- Got my Valentine 1 connected by grabbing a USB-C to USB adaptor and then hooking in a USB to cigarette lighter adapter. The cord stretches over the mile wide dash but it works without any custom install or connecting to wiring in the mirror.

Downsides -
-cannot drive with my legs if my hands are full. (I probably shouldn’t be doing this anyway)
- Supercharging was more expensive than I expected
- Attention at every stop

the x has free supercharging for life but the improvements made on the truck makes me want to spend the cash on fuel

I can say I’m blown away with how improved this version of FSD is over what I’ve used in the past. It took round abouts and handled construction perfectly. When lines stopped for on and off ramps it didn’t hesitate like it used to.

the biggest upgrades from the 2016 Model X is being hands free with the camera system recognizing your site line and phone use.
Between Boston and New York I was shut out because I was trying to hook up my radar detector. I drove that stretch manually and reset FSD in Ny.

Over the 1800 mile trip I only needed to intervene two times. Once it missed a rural exit and wasn’t sure where to go. The second was on a dual turn lane next to a semi. When it got in front of the semi taking a wide turn it tried to cut it off pretty close. I took over early so not sure how it would have adjusted.

the only other restriction that disabled it was going 90+ in Dallas (the speed of traffic). It exceeded FSD maxes and shut me out again.

overall crazy satisfied and very surprised by how good it was. Previously I thought FSD may never happen. Now I think it will happen very soon.

I’m not sure if my friends enjoy watching it drive or us gunning it 0-60 haha. I got the beast and am perma in beast mode.

Can you share photos of how you have your radar mounted?

Nice, my FSD has been really good as well. Very few needed interventions, most of my interactions have been based on my preferences when driving. I have noticed that if I intervene and report it, the next time I run into that situation it is corrected. Seems like FSD is actively learning and changing if you report problems. Can anyone verify if that is actually the case?

do radar detectors really work well? What's the very best one out there?
Yea they still work. Caught a bogey on the other side of the bridge with plenty of time.
I’m using the OG valentine one and it’s great. Shows you the direction of the radar. It also picked up signals behind me that I could verify after passing marked vehicles.

There’s now a v2 but I’ve also heard great things about the uniden R8.

I started with my Valentine V1 about 15 years ago and have put it in all of my vehicles since. It’s been a great investment for a lead foot.

Did a 750 mile trip and FSD was good but it speeds (10+ mph over), abruptly slowed down when “Minimum Speed 40” signs appeared, tailgated incessantly to the point I had to shut off FSD in heavy traffic, waits until the last possible moment to slow down at stops (think of your teenagers who break at the very last possible instance to avoid rear-ending the car in front of them, leaving the distance equivalent to a ruler), inexplicably gets into the far left lane a mile before it has to exit on the right then has to navigate 3 lanes of traffic, tailgate creep on the highway, barks at you for going 71 mph when it’s doing the driving, does not keep you squarely in the middle of the lane…but I’d 100% rather have it than not.

It needs to have a feature like other vehicles (Hyundai) that you can set cruise and lane and distance to car in front and it will adjust your distance automatically and keep you in the center. Also, to have the scroll wheel able to control speed whether in FSD or just cruise.

Have you experienced random notifications to take control immediately? (When FSD is off and my eyes are on the road.) I’ve had several recently. (2024.32.20.1)

haven’t had this pop up.

I did change mine from auto speed to the offset in settings. I usually keep it at 5 over and have been needing to push the pedal to get it to accelerate to the max I set.

also noticed the last minute break slam when approaching vehicles at a stop light or some traffic instances.

not sure where the vehicle distance is. I know they have it on my x but haven’t seen it on the CT.
