I have not received an email telling me my covers are ready to install, come get them, or, Tesla is shipping them to me. I've had my CyberTruck now since April and I've grown to admire my wheels. I had lug nut covers and center cap ready and installed them when I picked it up. Looks good. My question is whether the new hubcaps *scratch* the paint/powder coat on the wheel spokes and rim? If I decide I don't like the hub cap look or it's wearing my tires will the use of the hub caps damage the finish on my stock wheels?? For those who are using them what do you see after you remove them?

I've had the new wheel covers on my rig for over 2 weeks and haven't seen rubbing, yet. I have also been watching for rubber separation but haven't seen that yet either. I made a new video today:

Seriously, I barely see any scuffing on the tire. Nothing that looks like it may effect your tire’s durability.

When did you purchase versus when you did you get the wheel covers? I have been waiting since February.

On page one I mentioned that the truck was delivered 8/19 by Tesla as the first one received in the Raleigh service center that had the wheel covers already installed by Tesla for delivery. I did do only one off road 8 mile forest service road with them on and there is the possibility that they should be removed if you are driving on any non-pavement road. The tires were not under inflated, so maybe it is just that uneven surfaces, potholes, rough road surfaces can still cause them to rub. I removed the covers so this cannot happen again.

Any ‘scuff’ (his picture clearly shows what many would call a gouge) on the sidewall is bad, especially when off-roading.

Thanks. Apologies for not reviewing the entire thread first. I for one like the look of the wheel covers so long as they don’t destroy the tires. Thanks for posting your experience.

The tires flex more than many would suspect under normal driving conditions.. not to mention the dynamic loads which are impossible to predict.

I think Tesla was surprised at just how much (or little) rubber-to-rubber (friendly) contact would cause this.. I applaud the effort, it is a clever design with one seemingly minor but troublesome issue.

It was dissapointing, because I liked the look too and would have preferred to continue using them. But, they also are a pain to remove and install even when you know how to do it correctly (watch Tesla's instruction video). And lining them up with the notches on the Cyber AT tires is almost impossible after the initial installation (which in my case Tesla did) because the backing ring is very difficult to remove from the cover or to turn once it has been first installed.

I predict Core covers being shipped on the AllTerrain tires soon..

It appears all they did was change the rubber lip… which may still not completely fix the issue.

I don’t think ‘this’ was the intended ‘limited edition’ they were hoping for, but it very well could be the one they are remembered for… unfortunately

Once you set them up straight the first time, the two units are one unit (unless you remove the two units apart) and you never have to adjust them again... I do this all the time. Pop on, pop off.

Pro tip if you want to remove the two units apart. Use gloves. Helps you do it quickly.

It's one of the simplest thing. Maybe I should make a video.
