They will only postpone your delivery once (and only for two weeks.)

Ok, this might strike you all as a ridiculous post on a forum where most of us have been waiting for a Cybertruck for several years but I just wanted to pass on this info. I'm currently having a garage built on my property (we get snow in the Winter) and the garage isn't quite finished. It was supposed to be finished weeks ago but you all know how that goes.

Anyway to my extreme surprise I got a message from Tesla that my CT was ready for delivery. However I saw that the only choices for delivery dates were 10/21 and 10/23 and I knew my garage wouldn't be done by then. I figured I'd stop by the dealership and ask them to hold the delivery until 11/15 just to be safe.

This is when more surprises followed:
#1 I had to give up my vin# and that vehicle will be assigned to someone who is ready for delivery now.
#2 They will only place a delivery "On Hold" once and if you don't accept the vehicle immediately when the hold ends they cancel your reservation.
#3 This one time hold can be no longer than 2 weeks (if you are ready for delivery before the two weeks is up you can "Remove The Hold" and get your vehicle sooner.)

I will be assigned a new vin# on 11/1 (or possibly a few days after that.) And when I get the new vin# (based on what they told me in the dealership) it'll be like ringing the dinner bell. As soon as I have the number I'll need to come running to pick it up... immediately!

I don’t understand why you need your garage done prior to taking delivery of the truck. In either case, it doesn’t seem to really matter at this juncture because the Cybertrucks are going to be widely available to anyone that wants one at any time. You should let them assign that truck to someone who wants it right now and order a new one later.

Honestly I would be annoyed but since there aren’t as many buyers since they have blown through the reservation I don’t think it’s a big deal, you will likely get one pretty fast.

Well not to be a downer but there's been some CT hate around here. I talked with one guy two days ago and someone dumped a bunch of paint on his CT. Also other people (strangers) have been coming up and saying uncool things to him about cybertrucks. Needless to say I'll be storing mine in my garage. This may be a subject for another thread but I don't understand why so many people love all the other Teslas, yet they hate the CT

Yeah thanks I agree. Now that they've gone through the reservations list (and a lot of people cancelled their reservations because they're not getting $7500 off the price even though the AWD is under $80k) I don't think anyone will have to wait a very long time anymore.

As it should be. Once you are assigned a VIN, and they have delivered the vehicle to your local delivery center, time is money. If you don't want to pay them in full, they will sell it to someone who will.

Garage door is not finished? Ha! Mine has lived outside in the weather, 24/7, under trees and leaves and in the rain and sun since I took delivery over 6 months ago (and it hasn't hurt it one bit).

Bang-up good truck, you're gonna love it!

Have you considered renting space on a short-term basis in a storage garage? It shouldn’t cost too much maybe 30 bucks. Just put it in rental garage and leave it there for a month.

Stop worrying about what other people think, I love my cyber truck and I could care less what anybody says about it. Just my opinion.

If you are picking up your Vehicle in a state where we are licensed to sell the Vehicle, we will notify you of when we expect your Vehicle to be ready for delivery at your local Tesla Delivery Center, or other location as we may agree to. You agree to schedule and take delivery of your Vehicle within three (3) days of this date. If you do not respond to our notification or are unable to take delivery within the specified period, your Vehicle may be made available for sale to other customers. For new vehicles, if you do not take delivery within fourteen (14) days of our first attempt to notify you, Tesla may cancel your order and keep your Order Fee.

Maybe. Or maybe they just allowed all the reservation holders to order, now that they are producing a healthy number of trucks per week (like they should have done to begin with). It's possible they have plenty of demand and you could be pushed back a couple months by cancelling your order. Something to consider. They just lowered the price by 20k, lol.
