They are producing both 2170 and 4680 Model Ys in Austin. There are two trims, the base one is 4680 and structural battery, the other one is 2170 and has an inverted old style battery. They both use the same gigacastings.

I can see prioritizing the dual motor to keep the price in balance to recieve the tax incentives.

Probably not. They're profitable right now.

Elon has already said there the industry doesn't need tax incentives.

I guess he means as 'incentive' to attract customers to buy EV's.

The incentives to me serve as a psuedo tariff to assist US legacy to raise their prices to get out of the red/or to lower so they can compete with imports.

At 2022 shareholder meeting, Elon said Cybertruck would be ramping in mid 2023 . If that comes to pass then Cybertruck production would have had to start before mid 2023.

I’d like something a little more tangible than that.

Perhaps a Gigapress and a 4680 ramp?

That said, I’ll raise the bar a little.

Martin Viecha Tesla’s head of investor relations said: “For the first time I can remember, we can access all the supply we need for both businesses."

Not quite clear if he was including 4680 supply or just in general. I assume he just meant supply for currently shipping vehicles.

Hoping 3Q is the big mic drop earnings call. Not expecting it… just a bit of wishful thinking.

Separately, does anyone have a sense for how much if any this railway strike might effect CT related preparations at all? Perhaps nothing is rail dependent at this phase.

Austin factory has barely started shipping Model Ys less than 5 months ago.

Gigapress casting machine is on it way from Italy. There are still couple months time for gigapress to get installed without causing more delays.

For first time, at shareholder meeting Elon said Cybertruck production equipment was on the way.

4680 are ramping.
