I’m not complaining about this whine, it just seems louder than I am used to compared to our S and X. At about 40 mph it is moderately loud - both when the accelerator pedal is pressed and when it is regenerating.
I am just trying to assess what is normal.
Thanks

Mine whines loudly too. It’s fun during acceleration but I tire of it quickly on the highway. I asked the service center about it, and after a ride along, the tech said it was louder than other trucks but seemed relatively normal.

I wouldn’t have thought the PM motor up front would be that much louder. It’s possible it’s normal but I can’t help but think there’s a missing NVH shield or something.

From what I have read and experienced, this is normal. I have the AWD model and the motor whine is way more noticeable than my 2018 X. Some say the beast is even more noticeable.

I would also say that I think the cabin is quieter than my 2018 model X (maybe better seals?) so that also makes it more noticeable.

it’s most annoying to me when I am holding speed and there is a slight whine. It’s not a huge deal, but I wish it wasn’t there. When I play music (almost always), or open a window, it’s not noticeable.

CT will be my first tesla, is it still quieter than ICE engine noises?
The only time I notice any electric motor while is during acceleration and deceleration and that is how electric motors work. I do not mind it.

The CT motors are doing a lot more work than any other model for sure; so I wouldn't be concerned unless the sound radically changes one day.

It's not motor whine, the loudest thing you can hear is gear whine. The Cybertruck has larger gears and a 15:1 gear reduction (vs. around 9:1 for other Tesla). The higher reduction and larger gear faces generate more whine (mostly the higher reduction ratio) and the thin aluminum gear cases allow all that beautiful sound to be transmitted outside.

It is not an objectionable sound. It is good to know that it is normal and now I can appreciate it rather than wonder about it! Thanks for the education.
