Anyone seen anything like this? Drove the truck to the gym, worked out, drove over to get a protein shake and came back out to multiple failures on the screen and the truck not willing to shift into gear. Got out, started a service ticket in the app, truck locked itself and became completely unresponsive.

3 days at the service center, no root cause yet. Was given a old model S loaner and told it was the worst day for the truck to be brought in haha. (Packed and understaffed) Beautiful.

Update 11/23 - my Vin is not part of any known recall todate.

Update 11/24 - hv cable to front inverter is being replaced. Thats it so far.

Update 11/27 - hv cable replaced, beast is back home. Rear bumper damaged by service center and front bumper loose on the passenger side...waiting on parts and it will be going back to service in December...

Was this an early build?

Ha I guess when I wrote this, I was thinking more about the truck sitting for a period of time and being able to restart but then not being able to restart after sitting for a 2nd time.

Sounds like either an inverter or drive unit failure.

If so, surprised these are still being seen... as Tesla has been aware of the issue for months.

Wow, sorry to hear that. These errors stem from an open circuit being reported on the High Voltage Interlock (HVIL). Cybertruck uses a new methodology for determining HVIL faults where is is no longer a series connection along each HV device and now used HVIL over CAN. Nevertheless, this is likely caused by an electrical connection caused by poor pin fitment in any of the HV module harness connections.

I looked a little further and this is what I found:

Description
A drive inverter detects an open high voltage interlock loop (HVIL) and reports the issue on the ethernet loop (ETH). This triggers the High Voltage Battery (HVBATT) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to report an HVIL condition, setting one or both of the following alerts:
  • HVBATT_a039_DriveInverterHvilOpen
  • HVBATT_a042_PedalMonitorHvilOpen
Steps To Fix
  1. Determine which inverter is reporting High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL) as open:
DIR_a012_hvilNotClosedRear drive unit from dual motor
    DIF_a012_hvilNotClosedFront drive unit
    DIREL_a012_hvilNotClosedRear left drive unit
    DIRER_a012_hvilNotClosedRear right drive unit
  2. Confirm PM_a011_systemHvilNotClosed is present on the vehicle or in the logs.
  3. Confirm that the alert log signal PM_a011_systemHvilNotClosed points to the same drive inverter reporting HVIL as open.

It’s very possible that during assembly a connector wasn’t properly seated and or a these specialized connectors have a pin or socket loose or backed off.

Sorry to hear about this. PM me if you’d like to explore this further. Here’s to hoping the service dealer can get you up and running very soon.

had as similar issue last week, second time in the shop for this, and its been a week getting fixed. Totally sucks, it's hard to trust the CT on trips now for me. My errors were saying low voltage, something about rear steering, and unable to enter drive. I already had my PCS replaced when I first got the truck and it broke down, now here we are again, this time they are fixing replacing something else.

Well it is either a loose connection (as noted above) OR it could be rodent damage! One of my Porsche's had 8 wires cut in a matter of hours while parked in my garage - 10 days and $7k later it is fixed, but those critters can be really destructive.

My neighbor (a contractor) had a weeks old GM electric truck that was replaced by his insurance company because of rodent damage earlier this year.

Please keep us updated as to the root cause in your case.

Shhh… it’s okay, ALL MANUFACTURERS ship cars with issues.. don’t you know this?

[sarcasm]

…or so have been told by many here

This is the one thing I dread as my delivery day could be imminent.

This is my largest concern ?. If this were to happen on the road trip we were planning up to the mountains, what a PITA this would turn into. The most concerning part is in a ICE vehicle, of course critical system failures happen but not typically ones where your locked out of the vehicle, potentionally on the side of the road in what could be BFN

I wonder if ‘they’ think or even care about this.. for some it will be an only means of transportation.. even on delivery day many want to simply enjoy the open road without worry..

This entire “early adopter” mumbo jumbo is a poor excuse.. especially 12months later.

$0.02

100%. And no I dont.. however, the loaner they gave me had some sort of drive failure lol so I went by this morning for a 2nd loaner and they definitely felt bad this time around when I asked how the truck repairs were going and the response was: "well, we haven't been able to open the truck yet, hopefully soon" and I just looked at the 2nd loaner...more then a year expired registration. Can't make this stuff up.
