The small gap is usually normal. I have this as well. Most leaks will not be from this gap, it will be from the seal on the removable top panel. Unfortunately most Tesla SC will not spend much time chasing leaks to make your tonneau cover waterproof. This is something that we would have to do ourselves if having a dry bed is important to you. It was for me, I hope this video helps to address your leak.

So looks like Tesla tried to fixed this with subsequent CT productions by replacing the foam seal with rubber seal but failed. Not sure what kind of engineering degree you need to have to know that you need something wider than the gap to get a successful seal, ?. I have over 3/8” gap and they used a 1/4” seal. Anyways, thanks for the tutorial, I did what you did but since my gap was a bit significant, I didn’t bother removing the middle part of the rubber seal; made a really tight fit which I think is a good thing. It was a bit of a struggle putting back the cover though since I kept the OEM seal also.

In my experience, warranty claims are accepted/declined based on service location. Had one location deny a paint defect claim (on my ‘23 3, not CT) without even seeing the car, but another site took care of it. If possible, select another location when setting up the appointment.

Tonneau Cover (Rework)

You shouldn't be able to see the water management slat holes. If you have a gap between the roof and tonneau then there is a service procedure to fix it. I think there were a group of VINs that came with one less slat.

After I saw this post, I was excited to made an appointment to get it fixed. I dropped it off today, later the service advisor texted me saying they won’t able to get it fix. I even show him the invoice from the post, but he keep saying it’s within spec. I was really disappointed.

Mines in the shop for this too. I’ll let you know if I get the same result.

How much water was it leaking for you prior to the fix?
Is this significant enough?

Just got back from the SC. FS AWD, May 2024 Delivery, 113xx.

They replaced the entire slat system, Part# 1906561-00-D

No more gap at the top. It’s late here, so no idea if it helps with water intrusion in the bed or not.

Tonneau works perfectly (as it did before). I can’t even tell they worked on the CT. Everything looks perfect.

First SC didn’t fix mine. Second SC did replace entire assembly and now there are no holes showing. Haven’t tested yet but hopefully less leakage. They also replaced my trunk due to a couple small scratches at delivery. They took my word for it which was awesome as I had forgotten to take pictures at delivery. Happy with the warranty work so far!

Took mine to the new Plano SC, the rep didn't know about the correction service kit. Showed him the website, hope it gets fixed!

Just dropped mine off to 2nd SC as I gave the 1st one 2 tries and they only fixed the left side. Hopefully tomorrow both will be fixed.
