I was in a hurry one morning and carelessly broke my side mirror housing while backing out of the garage. Consequently, I submitted a service request to have it replaced. Within two minutes, Tesla approved the request, but the estimate included that they were also replacing the high-voltage battery. Surprisingly, I haven’t encountered any issues with the battery nor have I received any error messages.

I dropped off the truck at the service center a few days ago, and they informed me that there’s technically nothing wrong with my batteries. However, Tesla engineering has requested that the battery pack be returned for a tear-down and inspection. Apparently, units produced around the same time as mine have been experiencing issues. As a result, they’re taking my battery pack and replacing it with a new one.

I received my Cybertruck around July 1st and my vin is 21895. I just want to give a heads up to anyone that has one built around the same time as mine.

Recently heard about this! Sounds like they're being very proactive about it. Wonder what the issue was, though any issue with the HV systems can't be good

Got my cybertruck about 2 weeks after yours. Very close VIN, like 250 less than yours which is a bit weird btw. Longer shipping time to CA at that time?

Anyhow, wondering if that’s on the way to become an actual recall? Strange you didn’t get a notice about it until you made a service appointment.

How long does it take them to replace the HV battery? Seems like that would be quite involved.

I received my beast on the same day and made a service appt last week for some things and they didn’t add that to mine. Did you have a beast?

That's not bad for a mirror these days. Wonder if Tesla ia proactively pulling a sample of 4680 packs after various usage intervals and across climates to analyze how they are holding up in the first year.

I dropped it off on the 16th and the estimated completion date was the 18th. They said that they have plenty of battery packs on hand but were saying it could take up to 9 business days if one didn’t match. I have no idea what that meant.
On the 18th they changed my completion date to Christmas Day saying they were waiting on parts. I’m wondering if it’s the mirror they’re waiting on since they told me that had plenty of battery packs on site. Then a couple days ago they updated the completion date to Jan 3rd. The tuck has sat in the same spot in the parking lot on the map since I dropped it off on the 16th. I’m just wondering why they’re having to wait on parts when I scheduled the service appointment on Nov 22nd and didn’t drop it off until Dec 16th. You’d think that would have gave them plenty of time to get the parts needed.

Mine was replaced due to the cell denting issue. My VIN is 4xxx though, so hopefully a different issue.

At this point I would just get the truck back and bring it when they have the parts.

They should be able to tell you if they’re waiting for the mirror parts vs the battery packs. Shipping a mirror from factory to the service center should be an order of magnitude easier, assuming there’s no parts shortages since they have built more trucks than they can sell.
