Congrats, you made the right choice. Although I still have my old 2005 Toyota Sienna. Going to drive that thing until it no longer runs.
No van hate, they’re great utilitarian vehicles, they’re just slow and boring to drive is all, and I don’t understand why they make them so ugly. Tesla needs to make a sexy minivan (other than the robovan) and change the game!!

Get the 6-seat X. We also have CT, and I must say the X is better for road trips - more comfortable and efficient.
Problem is we can’t, when you’ve got three kids all in car seats there’s a double stroller, cribs, bassinets, so much large crap that’s gotta come with them. Our Volvo XC90 is a 6 seater with captains chairs, with three car seats you’ve got to have captains chairs because otherwise there’s no way to access the third row, you can’t move the middle row seats forward so your only option is to go around them down the middle aisle into the third row to tie the third kid into their harness, the X is no different. Then you’re left with no room in the back to fit even a stroller, heck you can hardly fit groceries. So we had gotten a Thule XXXL roof cargo box for the Volvo which looked cool but was a PITA to actually put on and remove, and we still couldn’t put many items in there. So as nice as the X is it’s just not travel friendly until the kids are much older.

Don't let you wife drives to cybertruck to much she may want one also like my wife . We have to pay the house off for her to get hers her word. But with the price it may be cheaper the the model x. Welcome to the family best road trip vehicle. The more people who test drive it . the people will see how good it is and want one .
That’s awesome, so far she’s afraid to drive it haha, but she loves the model X.

Isn't that what the Model X is? Van without being a Van!

lol definitely still incomparable to the utility and interior size of a van. The rear of the X slopes down and is smaller than many SUVs even, it’s smaller than the XC90 we have for sure and that’s already very limiting in size. The X is ideal for adults, or a family with older kids, it’s really not a very baby friendly, maybe one baby, but definitely not three.

So the story is that my family and I were extremely close to getting a 2025 Toyota sienna van and instead we pulled the trigger on a cybertruck and we couldn’t be happier. We’re a family of five, my wife and I and our three girls all in car seats, plus a golden retriever. We had a deposit on a Toyota sienna and after the second time it was delayed and we were told it won’t arrive until February, we pretty much got fed up and just went for it.

We decided to go test drive the cybertruck since we had been pretty intrigued by it and had jokingly talked about getting one in the past. I took all three of our car seats and we actually installed them for our test drive along with our 3 1/2-year-old who sat in the middle right in front of the display in the back, boy was she excited. My wife instantly fell in love with the truck, her favorite thing about it was that she could actually turn around and reach all the kids from the passenger seat, realizing she could give them snacks and reach them for any reason. I fell in love with steer by wire instantly, and have always wanted a truck. The only thing I was looking forward to in a van was the cargo space. We also love the fact that on our road trips, the girls would sitting side-by-side and enjoying the experience together vs in a van where they would be sitting apart and one of them would be in the third row.

Driving the cybertruck was one of the most exciting things we’ve experienced in a while, especially compared to driving the van, which was one of the most boring experiences ever. We decided to order the truck the same day and took delivery just a week later. We’ve now had the van sitting in our garage for about a week and I’ve just been constantly buying accessories and surfing the forums. We couldn’t be happier with our choice and now we’ve decided to get rid of our Volvo XC90 as well and replace it with a model X. The XC90 just wasn’t cutting it with three car seats anymore, which was why we decided to get another car in the first place, but now having driven the cybertruck we think our ideal set up would be a model X for my wife and the cybertruck for myself and for our road trips. Super glad to be a part of the Tesla family. I’m looking forward to spending tons of time on this forum and with this community!

congrats on joining the CT Club. Agree with many our best vehicle ever. I forwarded this thread to my daughter. She has two little ones and. Model Y I told her this would make it easy day to day and when the four of them and the golden retriever make trips. Hope she listens to dad. Today we drive 370 miles home from Mammoth Lakes with lots of their stuff. My wife who loves to drive the CT when available says I love how easy we just throw everything in the bed with minimal effort.

No, we’ve got a Volvo XC90 but it’s been sitting at the dealership in service for a month now for water flooding into the back from rain. Never ever buy a Volvo, gigantic lemons, so I’m trying to obtain a refund currently. Hopefully it all goes through, either way we’ll be replacing it with the model X, the decisions been made so it’s just a matter of when, not if. We had the highest trim as well, the T8 recharge plug-in hybrid so it actually cost around the same as an X, unbelievably so.

Awesome!! Yeah my wife absolutely geeked out over the fact that we can just throw everything in the back, there’s been a ton of tetris-ing in the past with our SUV so it’s very refreshing. And with a tonneau protecting everything from debris, it’s just so ideal.

Perfect. Plenty of time to change your wife's mind to get another CT instead of X!

Great story and love the fact you went from a minivan to the Cybertruck!

You’re gonna love it and the whole Tesla experience of driving one and seeing how it constantly gets better with software updates.
