Had an amusing experience a few weekends back. My family and I were out on a camping trip in extreme Northern BC, about 4 miles back off the highway in a remote area. We had the place to ourselves, until a lifted Ram pulled up towing a jet boat. They immediately got stuck the mud, and I offered to pull them out, but they were able to work through it on their own. After extricating the truck and trailer from the mud, they proceeded to back the trailer into the river, where they immediately sunk the wheels in the loose rocks/mud down to the rear axel. There was no way they were getting that thing out on their own.

I grabbed my tow straps, we rigged it up, and I pulled them out like it was nothing. Practically zero effort for the cybertruck.

Anyway, I thought I would share, just to counter some of the clickbait BS you see about the cybertruck. It is truly an incredibly capable vehicle.

nice to see! looking at your height settings, is that high/offroad/extract?

What's the consensus on best brand of tow/recovery strap to keep in the truck "just in case"? I see Rhino straps are heavily promoted on Amazon, but curious to see what the CT community's feedback and recommendations are.

Pretty sure the suspension was in very high. I locked the diffs just in case. I was in plenty of slick mud and loose gravel. Those are the stock all-season tires, btw.

Amazing location! I'm going to share this with my Dodge buddy.

somewhat unrelated anecdote, but a friend of mine told me my truck wasn't even fun to take off-roading because there was zero perception of a challenge to navigate through the deep muddy rutts.
I can relate to that, if the goal is to challenge yourself. I've never driven a truck that was this easy to off-road. But if your goal is just to get there with the minimum fuss, it can't be beat! Good job pulling that "manly" diesel truck out of the river.

Did he have any trouble getting his jet boat loaded after you saved his ass?

I won't promote any particular brand, the key is to use a kinetic recovery rope instead of a tow strap. It can do extractions that are literally impossible with a tow strap.

More important than the brand is the length and diameter because this affects how much kinetic energy it can absorb, positioning flexibility and safety margin for harder pulls required for large vehicles. For Cybertruck use, I would recommend a 7/8" x 30' as a general, all-purpose recovery rope. A longer rope can become unwieldy and, although it does allow for harder pulls without breaking things, the amount of energy delivered can make the pull harder to predict, which is what you don't want in dicey situations. If you want to bias your selection to larger heavier vehicles, get the 1" diameter. This has the disadvantage of being harder on marginal recovery points and delivers the pull energy over a shorter period of time.

A 20' x 7/8" or rope would work for most common vehicle sizes in most situations but it doesn't allow as much positioning flexibility, and would limit the amount of energy you could use to extract larger vehicles that are really stuck (for example in a deep ditch). The shorter length would also over-stress marginal attachment points more easily (in the same way that a larger diameter rope does).

A 50' rope has some advantages but the disadvantages are significant, including cost, storage space, weight and less control of the energy delivered.

LOL I'm the third person not looking at the tow capabilities..
I'm too jaded... Been going to places like that for decades. I've always carried a Trifor cable puller type winch with proper anchors, straps, and blocks so I could pull my truck out even if it was swamped. Never used it on my own rig, but oh the fools...
