I have a very good random orbital polisher. What kind of pad did you use? I heard a guy at a glass shop say that they would use a clay pad which is a very mildly abrasive pad, if they were faced with the same situation.
We finally got a warm day today when I had some real time to try to attend to this and wanted to provide an update.
I hand washed the truck in the shade (temps in mid 50’s) and then after drying each panel I applied a generous coating of Citrisurf 77, then re-sprayed it with reverse osmosis...
I mean there's plenty to love about the truck but there's so many small things that are just so terrible it sucks a lot of the enjoyment out of it for me at least.
I mean, parking it outside and "letting it get rained on" isn't even an option in the southwest or rocky mountain areas. It can go weeks or months at a time without any appreciable rainfall.
Mostly we just get snow, sleet and scorching heat.
Is there any risk to the plastic or rubber trim on the truck if you are spraying citric acid solution on the steel panels and it drips onto those surfaces?
How long did you keep it soaked before you wiped it off? Did you use something mildly abrasive like a clay detailing pad or blue scotch brite pad?
What temps were you working in?
I tried cleaning corrosion off of a door panel as a test and spraying Citrisurf77 directly on the panel, waiting 20...
It's likely that a replacement of the RFID module fixes it because the module has been corrupted through an improperly performed firmware upgrade.
Tesla will obfuscate and delay replacing people's hardware if they think they can eventually fix this with a future software update.... as it would...
Just an update.... Citrisurf 77 is useless for removing these corrosion spots.
So, I will have to plan on going over the truck with barkeeper's friend and possibly even get out my orbital to get it all off.
I'm now contemplating some kind of coating for the steel as the CT clearly can't take...
I'm just going to make a long list of things that need to be addressed and bring the car in when I will be off for a few days and let them deal with as much of it as possible in one go.
Can someone take a photo of what Tesla did to address? I have run into this in colder temps on my October production AWD CT and it's kind of annoying. Only seems to happen in colder temps and is much worse on the passenger side rear window than the driver side.
Getting into my local SC is a...
The 48V charge level is maintained by the main battery pack so that shouldn't be a concern.
Like all Teslas the CT will have reserve battery capacity that can't be used for any purpose other than to keep the battery pack from getting bricked. It will shut down completely and hibernate in order...
The 3rd test drive of the CT I had some guy ahead of me lose his mind flipping me off out the window, when I rolled my window down he was screaming about Elon Musk.
This was right after the election lol.
People now mostly don't care but I've gotten a couple of nice comments too, I was...
I had not paired my Apple Watch or even installed the Tesla app on my watch before I ran into the situation of the key card no longer working to unlock the car.
I highly recommend Apple Watch users take the time to pair their watch to the truck to be able to use it as a backup key if their phone dies.
I have a service appointment with Apple to repair/replace my iPhone and I'm paranoid of being stuck in the parking lot at the mall with no way to access...
