Found out about this problem the hard way when my phone died.
I have an appointment to get windshield re-tinted next week so it sounds like I will have to unlock the truck from my phone when they go to do the work and then re-lock it from my phone until I have time to pick it up.
Well, for best results you should probably use distilled water, I'm not sure what the results will be with just regular filtered tap water.
I agree though if it turns out you are using a lot of it then it might make financial sense.
I only plan on using this stuff after snow/salt season is over.
I mean these trucks cost an arm and a leg, I'm not going to lose too much sleep about saving $20 on buying a pre-made citric acid cleaner vs mixing up my own.
Yeah, it's kind of sad. I expect a future update of the Cybertruck will do something to address this, but for now the only options are to live with it or to wrap it.
Thanks for the information. I was not able to find a place to buy Citrisurf 77 locally. I have to take my truck in next Monday so perhaps Tesla will have some at the shop they will sell to me.... otherwise I would have to mail order it.
So I picked up some of the foaming barkeepers friend and gave it a shot. Before/after photos shown.
I have WD40 I could try but honestly I'm a bit leery of being the guinea pig on that one unless someone with direct experience can comment further.
I was able to remove a decent amount of the...
This is interesting information as I've never seen the recommendation for WD40 oil and definitely never seen people say not to use window cleaner.
I might try this on one panel and see what the results are.
WD40 is primarily a water displacer so I am surprised it would have an application like...
It might be worth a shot but I doubt it's going to be strong enough to remove what I'm seeing on the truck. Might just have to go straight to the liquid.
Have you also used barkeeper's friend? If so I'd love to hear a direct comparison between the two especially if you are dealing with road salt conditions.
I'm fine with buying the Citrisurf if it works better but it is a lot more expensive than Barkeeper's friend.
I will also have to look at some kind of sealant application I can do over the stainless for next winter because even though I leased this truck (thank God for that decision) I don't relish the thought of doing this every time they salt the roads and I'm not able to immediately clean it off.
Thanks for the info. I have repeatedly seen Barkeeper's friend and some citrus cleaner recommended for these problems but most of the posts I see on that are from quite a while back and not sure what people have been running into now that there are a lot more trucks in these conditions this...
It was about that amount of time it was on mine but could have been more like 10 days.
That photo doesn't even show the really bad spots, there are probably about 20 spots you can see when there's more light that are about the size of a nickel and look pretty bad.
I know it can be fixed with a...
I have my CT now for just over a month and the weather here is cold. It is also snowing a fair amount and magnesium chloride is used liberally on the roads to keep them from freezing.
Finally got warm enough to take the CT to a wash stall and pressure wash all the grime off.
Lots of noticeable...
Numerous comment responses to that video indicate it is not possible. So either the person who made the video claimed the vehicle was locked when it was not, or this was an oversight on Tesla's part that was remedied with a software update many years ago.
The bottom line is that what I stated...
I have never seen a single documented instance of someone being able to open the frunk of a Tesla using an external battery if the car had power and was locked.
The only conditions where the vehicle will allow the use of an external battery to force release of the Frunk are;
1. Dead 48V battery.
2. Vehicle unlocked.
This has been something Tesla has had available on their vehicles since the Model 3 7+ years ago... nobody is going to hotwire your CT...
You cannot drive the one you are receiving and they are extremely clear on that point. "You are not allowed to drive it before delivery and once you drive it then that is your vehicle".
Driving a demonstrator is not what I am talking about.
