As someone who did indeed order an AWD Foundation last night from the 2nd tranche, I truly do hope that all retail orders open up next Friday!! Let’s all have fun with this!

I simply ordered yesterday because the Foundation AWD had exactly every feature I wanted and frankly, it was available to order.

Isn't it just the, available to order part? Couldn't you wait and get the all-wheel drive version and the tax credit and then add the other options if and when you wanted them?

Now, this is *only* the currently-prevailing evidence - but that’s as good as it gets from Tesla at the moment

UPDATE AT 11PM CST DEC 16th:

As of now, it appears that not all outstanding invitations were rescinded.

Since the discussions below, some have reported still having idle invitations in their account, and even completing orders.

What’s more bizarre, is it appears possible that some rescinded invitations were originally issued only Dec 15 tranche and others back on Dec 8 tranche, while invitations that are not rescinded may be all (?) from the Dec 8th tranche?

First tranche went out Fri 12/8, and second tranche went out Fri 12/15 - and based on reports from today, people with offers from the first tranche or second tranche disappeared ~overnight in connection with the second tranche going out

EDIT TO ADD: with the above clarifications it appears possible that either we’re seeing an order time clock time out, AND/OR Tesla has reached a Foundarion allotment max and ALL ORDERS, whether or not tranche 1 or 2


If in fact Tesla has maxxed the foundation series, it may mean that soon (next Friday?) we see the first non-Foundation configuration emails?

I had mine rescinded same as others in the 2nd tranche (evening Dec 15 the blue "Start Designing" button appeared in app/website, by 1pm Dec 16 the option was gone, just reverted back to normal reservation state). I never got an invite email.

I'm thinking the ones who had invites that didn't disappear from Dec 8 and could still order a week later may have also had an email invite?

But I agree, unless there are reports of more invites/buttons appearing for foundation series after Dec 15, then Foundation is done and normal orders are next.

Seems conceivable that either,
1. Tesla is real CLOSE to maxxing out on Foundation orders (say 974 out of 1000), and so they pulled the option to order back to just the first tranche so that they don't exceed the magic number and/or so they have less disappointed near misses in the larger invitation queue. Or,
2. The second tranche of invites was released by mistake, and so besides the ones who already ordered, they tried to pull those invitations back.

FWIW my Foundation order is still active in my app as well, also Oakland CA first wave offer. I ordered while the CT reveal was still happening and have a M3 I ordered first day as well - in case that matters. Sadly I am also one of those who can no longer get a Cybertruck until the 2WD version comes out, due to the “WTF Elon!” pricing.

Agreed. I read that as “Decide today what you will do if you get an invitation to configure because if you wait even one night to decide, no guarantee it’ll be waiting for you in the morning” ?

I'm not surprised its taken 2 and a half weeks to fill the 1000 Foundations Series. This is basically the very few willing to pay extra to move up. The idea that there was ever going to be huge demand to move up or buy flipped CTs at a big mark up was delusional.

This thread appeals to the "Have-nots" and the conspiracy theories why the Laws of Supply and Demand should not apply and that "...the sh!t ain't selling cuz no one wants it... but I want mine and I shall have it soon served on a silver platter..."

UPDATE AR 2:30PM CST DEC 16:

Appears Foundation series are NOT maxxed out / several members have reported still having idle and accessible invites, and a few completions of orders since the below initial reports of invites being rescinded.

Unclear what is behind invites being rescinded, etc.

What we’re left with seems no clear guidance on what’s going on, but instead only a general warning: while rare, it seems at least possible that one shouldn’t assume their invites will remain idle and open in their accounts for days or week.

Though it does seem they tend to stay open and idle for most?

Sorry for the partially false alarm, I guess, but we did all at once have several (3-5?) members reporting their invites were no longer showing in their accounts. ??‍

I checked my Tesla app and had my Cybertruck shown, with a "start a new design" button in blue (12/16/2023 9:00 AM EST). It let me place an order for a dual, or a tri-motor foundation series cybertruck. Later that day I checked, and only had a "Your Account" button in blue. (12/16/2023 7:00 PM EST). Today, I still have my Cybertruck reservation on the vehicles section on the tesla.com website, but nothing about the cybertruck on the app, it's gone. (12/17/2023 3:50 PM EST).
