If one hasn't been invited to order it might have to subside till next year. Who knows one might have different choices next year and the curtains might not be as thick or as expensive to look behind.

I am still going to buy the non FS when my turn comes up but the restlessness i felt last year is all but gone.
Maybe i can regain a fraction of the excitement when i go to pick up my truck one day, but i guess its the price i have to pay for peeking behind the curtain too many times.
I think this is a lot like an adult version of peeking at your Christmas presents. If there was some toy that you were infatuated with, and you went snooping and found it hiding in your parents' room, you were euphoric in the moment but it kind of tempered the magic of receiving that special gift on Christmas morning.
I think that is what you, and I, are experiencing when we continually consume all things CyberTruck on social media. It scratches that instant gratification itch but tends to make this a bit less exciting over time.
I do think that a lot of this excitement will return when we're completing the delivery process and especially when we get to the delivery center and are introduced to our very own truck. Kind of like looking at puppy pictures vs bringing your new pet home for the first time. ??

It's a lot more interesting at $80K than $100K (for AWD). But then again competition is intensifying across the board for EV"s in that price band with the following expected this year:
- Polestar 3 - not a truck, but Polestars are better drivers cars than Teslas with nicer interiors
- Volvo EX90 - also not a truck, but LIDAR is promising and spacious interior
- Macan EV - smaller, but should have nicer interior materials and, hurrah, some physical buttons and switches
- Rivian R1S/T standard range battery - also suspect there will be price cuts coming on the R1 line this spring after the factory re-tooling next month as costs come out of the vehicles. Just not much demand at $90-100K
- Lucid Gravity - let's see if they can actually bring these to market
- Kia EV9 - already out, already starting to sit on lots
- BMW i5 mid-range AWD - the i5 is out in single motor and high performance dual-motor but is so far missing the mid-spec dual motor AWD, this is due out this spring. Sedan, but again in the same price band with nicer interior than the CT.
- Hummer EV truck/SUV - lower-trim, lower priced models
- Tesla S/X Plaid - $90-95K gets you a Plaid, today. Less than a CT with more total interior space and 1,020hp. Some buyers may flip over when they compare directly within Tesla's own lineup.

It's a very different market than 4+ years ago when the CT was announced. Still has attention-grabbing styling but I'd think the AWD would be far more competitive when it is priced at $69K instead of $100K today.

I am still going to buy the non FS when my turn comes up but the restlessness i felt last year is all but gone. The anticipation at this point is just a notch up from the couple months i waited to get my toyota van. I guess living vicariously thru others is still somewhat living your own experience.

the wait was a lot more exciting when there was so much secrecy about the truck. Remember those 5 second test mule sightings? Or how long it took to just glimpse the rear seat.

Once the truck and pricing were revealed and with the countless videos since going over every inch of the truck inside and out, it's not a whole lot more exciting to me than basic transportation at this point. The newness has already started to wear out without me even stepping foot in it. Maybe i can regain a fraction of the excitement when i go to pick up my truck one day, but i guess its the price i have to pay for peeking behind the curtain too many times.
100% agree with you, at this point I’m in no rush, will give me time to pay off my Y and will allow me to go for the Cyberbeast eventually whenever my RN is called, hopefully the range/more features are out including FSD beta by then.

I ordered mine in 2021.. so I have known I have a long wait. Keeps my anticipation in check.. however, I am still stoked on it. The specs don’t deter me and I know I am so far down the line, price will be down when it is my turn and lots of things will be more dialed

Have you seen the Cybertruck in person yet?

That amplified excitement like 100x

I was already sold before but seeing it was next level. Totally didn't expect to get hit like that. It's just so damn cool and it feels like the future! You just have to see it to feel it I guess.

Would still love to have one Now!, but not for the extra cost. The fact that I would be waiting a couple of months or more anyway if I ordered FS now also helps my patience. Will order as soon as the nonfoundation AWD is available to me assuming the price does not go up.

Shortcomings ?
Range
Charging speed
no autopilot
rain leaking through bed cover
sure there's lots more, but some folks see issues like that as blockers to spending $100,000

All of these may be fine vehicles. My OPINION is that none are even in the same universe as the CT in terms of the future of transportation. And I'm an early-adopter type, so have to have it now :)

I hear you. What has dampened my enthusiasm is reading about all the people that have received invites to order (and even complain about not getting VINs) when I haven't even been able to put in an order. I could go to the next level of frustration if I could at least put in an order. Being in the reservation 'queue' (not really a queue if Tesla doesn't follow it) now feels like being a second-class citizen and that is a new level of frustration I didn't anticipate. In fact, we have multiple queues now. Us low lifes with RNs, those with unaccepted invitations, those who have accepted the invitations, those who have rejected the invitations but retained their RNs, those who have received VINs, and those who have received their Cybertrucks. Did I miss anything?

Maybe we need to prioritize those with Neuralink implants who might already think they have a Cybertruck but instead are sitting inside a refrigerator saying "zoom, zoom" thinking their AC is blowing ice cold.
