I ordered my CT this week. Got my VIN… it’s a 2024 (55,xxx).

Crazy right? Dec 20 delivery date for a 2024.
Gonna wait for a 2025.
I’m confused, you got your vin but now say you’re waiting for. 25?

Sounds like he put it on hold.
Him: “I’d like a truck please”
Tesla: “K. Here’s one”
Him: “Not THAT ONE. A newer one”
Tesla: “They’re all gonna be exactly the same for several years”
Him: “I need to prove myself, I need a 2025”
Tesla: “Try ordering January 1st, weirdo…”

It’s really kinda sad to me that this thread exists. If this was a Honda Civic forum with a bunch of college kids having a dick measuring contest, that’d be one thing. We’re dealing with fairly high class people, buying a minimum $80K truck, who should know Tesla models don’t vary by year, getting their panties in a wad over getting a 2025 model for no reason.

Simply wait 19 more days to order a Cybertruck to guarantee a 2025 model year. If they attempt to deliver you a 2024 model just reject the delivery.

This has been beat to death for every Tesla model both sides are right...

-Yes Tesla doesn't change things for model years like some oem's
-Yes Newer Model Year will give you little better resale down the road

Everybody is right.

Most of this thread falls into two groups:

Group A: People willing to spend a few weeks waiting to gain a year newer model

Group B: People who own the old model year shaming those in Group A for waiting

lol, there is Group C, though minor - people who don’t care. I’m in that group. Tesla is not going to radically change the specs. If anything, they might omit a few things to bring down the cost. A bird in hand is better than two… ?

I thought I was in group A. I was on the fence at the end of October waiting for the 2025. I ordered and picked up my truck the next day. Glad I didn’t wait. I have no plans to sale it so resell value of a new year model doesn’t matter.
