How come it’s for 2025 purchases only?
I thought IRS was just waiting for some paperwork from Tesla and eventually all CT under $80k should be eligible. I wonder if 2025 model is different from 2024.
Should I return the CT I’ve just purchased and re-purchase?

Because Tesla do not have a comms team - we will only know when/if someone leaks it, or Sawyer Merritt tells us.

You would need to get a 2025 Cybertruck (20th digit of VIN is S) to qualify.
It wouldn't show in order agreement anyway, only the payment sheet.

New 2024 requirements on components in the battery pack made Cybertrucks ineligible due to imported Chinese cathodes.
Tesla has apparently completed the validation of their in-house dry Cathode process and are using those in 2025 Cybertrucks.

Beast is over the MSRP threshold and may be using up old style cells. Could also put those in range extenders (someday).

The Tesla order page hasn't been updated as of this posting. I was just in a delivery/service center yesterday with several CT's on the lot and no one said anything so I'm pretty sure this was unexpected at their level.

Helpful info to keep in mind (posted by Sawyer Merritt)

The Cybertruck will not qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit if its MSRP exceeds the $80,000 limit. However, there’s an important distinction: the IRS excludes certain features from the MSRP calculation. Upgrades considered "accessories"—such as seats color, wheels, paint colors, steering wheel upgrade, etc—are included in the MSRP limit and will disqualify the vehicle if they push the total above $80,000. FSD is not considered an accessory by the IRS. This means you can add FSD to your Cybertruck without it disqualifying you for the EV credit.

Patience is a virtue. Good on you.

Seems like now is as good a time as ever as Trump has made his stance pretty clear on the future of a tax credit existing, with agreement from Elon. (This is not a political statement).

So maybe the 340 vs 325 mile range difference between the FS and NFS is real because of the chemistry change

I'm not sure why I'm so pleased to see this since I paid the $99,990 + tax & fees for the FS AWD, but I know I will be happy to see a lot more Cybertrucks on the road. I also wouldn't have been able to justify not waiting yet another year and getting the much more sensible RWD. I know I would not have enjoyed that nearly as much over its lifetime, and waiting another year just may have killed me. No regrets! ?
