Mounted mine. Thanks, OP!

Did everyone just use the black power from the camera? This will stay on with sentry mode so I’m just letting the Uniden sleep. A little annoying to have to turn it on every time I get in the car though.

I have sentry mode off when at home, so the r8 turns off after about 10 min. Then I don’t have to have the R8 sleep.

Love this thread, and amazing work on the mounts.

I used to have a radar detector (Escort 9500i) in my first Model S, complete with laser jammers. It saved me from at least one ticket, a lot of the bike cops around here are shooting laser, the one I remember, they were positioning just inside a dead-end street at the bottom of a hill, where the speed drops from 40 to 30 half way down the hill (i.e., a total hit job!). Anyway, he buzzed me, my laser alert goes off (the jammers then turn off so they're undetectable, and a second shot will work), I slow down, and as I roll past at a steady 32 he's just shaking his head. Made me so happy, lol.

Anyway, I want to put something useful where the mirror goes, so want to get back into radar detectors. I'm not going near reddit as I don't want a practically religious discussion/fight about them, but AI says the Uniden R8, the Escort MAX 360 MKII, and the Valentine One V1 Gen2 are the top 3. This is the comparison table (if anyone cares)

So those that are more recently in this world, would you concur? Since I live in the 'burbs, want to avoid too many false alerts, but the ticket-risky drives are generally freeway.

I can only speak to my R8 and I wouldn’t consider it’s laser excellent.

I got pulled over and the motorcycle cop said he got me on LIDAR. R8 never went off.

I was also on the freeway and it didn’t go off for radar or laser and the guy behind me got pulled over by an SUV cop on the side of the freeway. I had slowed down due to Waze warning. Maybe he had nothing on and just pulled over on their judgement in both cases, and lied about LIDAR, but I don’t know.

I think so? Was the amount $29.87 for just the part? If so then that’s it.

Also, when you get it, be prepared to dremmel with a small sanding bit to thin the base a little and widen the clasp hole so it fits the radar detector perfectly.
Sounds good.

I ordered and chose Global standard shipping as recommended by pcbway support. Total came out 44 dollars after 5 dollar coupon. Will update once I get it.
