Discount? You have already told Tesla you are able and willing to pay $140K for a depreciating asset and expect them to read that as you need a hand out before considering to buy something less expensive?

How CT will hold it’s value will depends on multiple factors:

• how fast the new tech is developed and implemented in subsequent CTs and competing products which is hard to predict.
• How well CT is supported over time.
• How cheap it is to purchase and maintain.
• How well it is built/How it lasts
• How does the inflation do
• CT is a flop and a few that are made become collectible.

I wonder How many of the folks going through with the purchase worry about the resale value.

speaking of CT resale, I was wondering the other day, if I was one of the first 1000 CT owners (other than employees), how much would it take for you to sell it?

As I have only one reservation (this might be pretty low for multiple reservation holders- but it remains to be seen how multiple reservation holders will be handled), and I am a second day reservation holder, it would be quite a bit for me to go to the back of the 2 million queue.

R1T owners were selling them around $150K on line. If you are one of the first and can get $50+ K off resale, you can wait six months and pay $10K over MSRP for the same CT in open market and still pocket $40K. It all depends on how early you are. 2nd day may not be early enough.

My wIfe liked our 2013 P85+ better than the plaid. It had a sunroof, color coordinated interior and several options. I sold it to a friend who has upgraded the computer and screen and replaced the battery. It obviously is not as fast as a plaid, but it looks extremely nice.

The 8-year old Model X is getting long in the tooth. I don’t see a refresh coming. I predict Tesla will simply drop this low volume model from its lineup. The unique Falcon doors were an expensive design decision.

Well in 2018 Musk did say that our Teslas would be making us $30k per year for a few years by now so if you actually believed him they would not be depreciating as much or at all.......

This ain’t merely about buying a depreciating asset. Not do wise people ignore historical depreciation when considering their buying choices.

What Tesla has done with pricing the last few months is a great boon for expansion to new adopters, but for current owners (esp recent buyers) an unusually stark depreciation event.

And with interest rates where they are, it’ll move the needle for some Tesla owners expecting to use trade in equity towards their CT down payment.

I agree, I was salty when i bought the white model 3 right before white became free. I cant imagine the huge change that the S and X just had. I don't think it's reasonable to expect any hook up from tesla but it would be nice.

Maybe an FSD discount/partial refund on recently purchased, pre discounted S and X.

Everyone forgets that legacy car makers used to offer rebates off stickers and I seldom paid over "invoice" less appreciable rebate for a new car. This discounting is transparent, with no dealer fluff included in marketing fees and blind dealer rebates. I find it refreshing even though I bought a '22 MX at full tilt. I have recently bought a couple of fleet MYs with surprising discounts offered out of stock too. What goes around comes around.

You may want to run the ad. for your CT on Saudi websites. Hi density of insane buyers. I saw two gold plated Lamborghinis just like the one in the photo in London driving back to back. Saudis fly them in for their vacation. The second one is driven by their gofer in case they have a flat. They stay at $20K /night hotels. They wouldn’t think twice about paying $600K for two early CTs.

I can't wait until the world gets off ICE vehicles and the price of oil collapses and we stop sending all our money to the middle east and support for dictatorships and repressive regimes IE Russia, Iran, Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.

Kinda double edged sword. Exxon Mobile is only one American company with a market cap of $470 Billion. If anyone slow us down in getting off fossil fuel, I have a feeling it would not be those countries. You would think all these EVs zipping around would have flipped This graph.
