My wife uses a wheelchair and one of the reasons I got the Cyber truck was to be able to bring her very heavy but more comfortable wheelchair on Road trips. https://photos.app.goo.gl/9k6GyfQFEWKJff7A8
This wheelchair weighs 300 lb so it was obviously not an option in the model y we had previously. However the transfer into the front passenger seat was quite tight because of the door not opening wide. Long story short, the rear hinges work just great in the front position with the rear door strap. The fitment is identical and there is no interference. Honestly I think the truck should come this way since there appears to be no downside of wider opening doors.
Tesla sold me the parts but would not do the install, so I went to a Tesla approved body shop who would do it for me. Initially I think Testa was concerned there would be interference but there is none with plenty of clearance similar to the existing rear doors.

Bravo! This is awesome. Do you happen to have the part number for the rear hinges? How much was the cost of the parts and labor to install?

@Jim Waller This is amazing. While I can't relate to the troubles you've had with transporting a heavy wheelchair, I want to congratulate you on being the first to make these accessibility improvements and sharing it with everyone on the forum! I'm sure others who are struggling with similar issues will find your post, pictures and video extremely helpful.

Would you mind sharing how much it was for the hinge parts and the install at the body shop?

Parts were roughly 250 and the install was 750. I suspect you could do better with the install price but I was just glad to have it done.

Thanks so much for sharing this and the link to the photos and videos. I am sure many others will benefit from seeing this, especially as more people get their CT/CB.

Another front door option that will be coming in the future that I happen to know about is the "lambo doors" from vertical doors ( www.verticaldoors.com ) which they confirmed to me they are in the process of developing a model for the front doors of the CT/CB. For some the upward lift may be helpful in tight spots so I just thought I would post this here for anyone who may have that situation. Most just buy them for the looks or a perceived "cool factor" but in certain instances they can be helpful for those with altered mobility needs as well.

FWIW.

Cheers

I looked through my photos from last year and I'm sorry I did not photograph or copy the part numbers. However when you call or visit your Tesla service, they should be able to easily identify them for you. There is a left and right version of the hinge and strap so just make sure they order the rear hinges and strap for whichever door you are replacing. They may not replace them for you since it is a non-standard application, however any competent shop, ideally a Tesla certified one, should be able to do it for you. That's what I did, since they have a nice jig to hold and align the door. They might also tell you that it will interfere with the quarter panel, this is not true!
We have been able to use this for many thousands of miles of trips including off-road excursions with my wife that would not be possible in any other vehicle while carrying her wheelchair. We have learned how to secure her to the seat with a neoprene positioning strap so she doesn't flop around too much. Securing her legs also helps when we're off road.
