But the ether loop is power ‘and’ data so it is more like PoE than anything else, isn’t it? We do not care whether it is using Ethernet cable.
In the video they say they chose not to run power. It causes communication issues.

I like to speculate what Tesla has implemented for bus communications based off what I know from established IEEE network standards, and the few examples of automotive Ethernet that has been implemented in the industry so far. The truth is, we don't really know what Tesla has implemented in the Cybertruck besides the tidbits of information the engineers are dropping, and what we can glean from the online parts catalog.

It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities that they aren't following IEEE standards. They don't use Autosar standards for software integrations and it's possible they modified or completely invented something that suited their current development path. Unless we have more technical releases from engineers, we can only speculate.

However they're transporting data around their primary bus, little is known. What is known is that there are 3 primary body controller ECUs in addition to door and trailer ECUs. They're also using tier 1 part providers of suspension, brakes (Bosch), and other units. Data needs to communicate from sensors to actuators via the bus system, so even if they're making sensors in house with a bespoke communication protocol, those signals and messages will need to be translated to the tier 1 provided part. That's why they say that the bus controllers are communicating with local devices via CAN protocol. We know the primary bus is communicating with a bi-directional gigabit bandwidth and TDMA to create a deterministic network. We know the topography is a loop, rather than star.

Should we start a new thread so we can geek out about comm bus stuff?

It doesn't seem to have been implemented based on the noise level I've experienced and my understanding that the 'anti-noise' speakers need to near one's head. I'm not seeing any evidence of it in my CT.

This tread got sidelined into geeky networking discussion. :)
So lets go back to original q-n: Is there an "Active Road Noise Reduction" feature on Cybertruck?
I dont see this option under Audio settings on CT:

It doesn't work on the MS, so I doubt it matters if it's in the truck or not

Hmmm...maybe that's why they didn't get the CT owners an option to turn it off?

So how do we know ANC is even there in CT?
I don't hear ANC while driving CT or vacuum-y feeling of ANC.

It’s posted on the “compare” part on teslas website, I do notice road noise goes away with some ambient music. Might be only active when the speakers are on?
