A lot of amazing knowledge on here.

When looking at pre owned Cybertruck is there any advantage with going with a later VIN? If so what number and why?

think of any tesla like a piece of tech, and not a legacy car. we are the beta testers and we are the marketing department. ive learned to never buy v1 of any apple product…I think the same could be said about any tesla. that being said there are good foundation series out there whose owners dont have youtube channels.

I went from a 5000 VIN to a 70,000 VIN.
No recalls as all were changed before the build.
Fit and finish is better and all the panels look the same color/shade with no strange marks or scratches in the steel. Delivered in much better shape than my first one. It's only been 4 days so far.
With my trade in they gave me FSD transfer (had to ask for that) and 1 year free supercharging.
I got gray not white interior, that alone was almost worth it.
No sales tax in Oregon so it cost me $4100 out the door. And I kept all my foundation series extras.
This was a no brainer.

I went from a 4,000 VIN to a 73,000 VIN and I can confirm all the same improvements: more consistent build quality (no misaligned panels or large gaps), panel edges are no longer razer sharp, vastly more consistent panel coloring/scratch pattern instead of random spots and discoloration on my older model, and quieter motors while under load.

One change I don't like, the scroll balls on the steering wheel used to be metal and the new ones seem to be plastic. I liked the metal ones better.

wonder if the Foundation trade in will now be without FSD or if they will add it back to make it like an original Foundation series

When it comes to FSD, being a software feature, Tesla will often let the buyer decide. If the buyer is all about the lowest price and doesn't want to pay for the feature, Tesla can remove it. Or, if it doesn't have FSD, they can add it and charge you more. Whatever the buyer wants.
