I took original delivery in Fife Wa on 11/26, drove the CyberTruck a few miles to the closest Five-Guys Burger I had googled the day before. Drove it to the marina in Tacoma Wa. Gave the keys to some people I have never met and jumped on a plane back to Alaska! My biggest gripe of this whole ordeal is not documenting much of this at all with film or photography guys sorry! The views home were amazing we had northern lights and clear skys above us, but the roads were fret with danger, moose on the loose, 18 wheelers, blizzard winds and black ice roads.
5 days later it arrived by boat in the port of Anchorage Alaska. I drove down the night previous to delivery and stayed in a nice place. We woke up and called the Carriers responsible for the delivery and they said delivery could be the next day! I was like oh no! Please do everything you can to drop the truck off on the scheduled day and luckily they were able to just a few hours late!
We picked up the CyberTruck and charged it, the ferrys and transport require a 30-50% charge so she was down to 26% when I took final delivery. We got to a fast charger and went to 100% in about an hour! Very impressive for my first time as an owner of EV. I plugged it in and it started charging immediately I did not have to press any buttons on the screen or the kiosk, I wish they all worked this way especially with payments and app logins etc.
Then we drove to reach a free charger at a Chevrolet dealer, charged up to 80% and made my first mistake! I should have charged to 100. I did not know you could slide the bar and get custom rates. It was a free charger and we stayed hooked up for about 30 minutes and then continued our 360 mile journey into the night.
Charging to 80% and not 100% meant we had to utilize a few hours on a J1772 in trappers creek to get enough juice to the FLO charger in Cantwell Alaska. BOO TO YOU EVGATEWAY!! My A2zEV CCS1 adapter was not working on these Siemens Chargers, confirmed problem is with the chargers not with the truck or the adapter.
Most of the ride is elevation gain with large hill climbs and it was getting colder the more north we went, to about -11F. The wind was gusting to 25mph in spots blowing snow onto the road making lanes very hard to see but the CyberTrucks Auto lighting saved our ass! Those beams rival almost any 18 wheeler we saw, the view is so wide and perfect white color!
After charging for two hours using J1772 adapter we continued on to Cantwell Alaska and the FLO Charger! We departed the last J1772 with 100% and got into Cantwell with 40% remaining, the drive was only 92 miles in distance but the elevation, wind and cold temps took half the battery! almost double the output per mile. It was after midnight by now and we had been up since 9am, started to feel the effects so while it charged for 2 hours and 30 minutes we grabbed a good bite of our Mooses Tooth Pizza and took a nap!
After the nap I downed a redbull to bring my caffeine intake to 280mg. That was a long 2 and a half hour drive home 140 miles! More elevation and more moose sign was the normal! My eyes were bugging out from constantly searching for moose or patches of black ice to be weary of. The CyberTrucks headlights are truly a god send! We had no blowing snow accumulation so I cannot speak to others having issues with the lights dimming due to snow build up.
Finally arrived at 6am! Went straight to bed and had crazy dreams about my CyberTrip!
During the entire drive home the CyberTruck never lost traction, slipped or gave me a sense of loss of control. I was using cruise control about 90% of the time, only using my foot during the most technical road conditions. I was driving in Chill mode with ICE mode off. I really enjoy the 'engine' breaking regen feeling when you let off the accelerator. Overall, I could not have been more happy with the performance of my truck, the only things I wish for change in the future is more support for Chargers in Alaska and the types of connectors we use! But knowing the route now, If I ever had to do this trip again I would not hesitate to bring another vehicle other than Tesla CyberTruck!
