Peak pricing for power in my area is 4-9pm. My understanding is that the Cybertruck with the PowerShare system can be manually triggered to disconnect from the grid and power the house from the truck battery.
All it would take is a software update allowing us to schedule Off Grid Mode so that we can power our homes from the truck during peak hours. Back of the napkin math for me suggests I could save around 2-3k per year doing this with my solar system.
Even if you dont have solar, you could save money charging your truck during cheaper hours, and then drawing from the truck during peak hours -- though the savings might not be worth the wear and tear.
Maybe I am missing something obvious for why this wouldnt be a good idea. Maybe Tesla won't do this because they dont want to replace batteries within the warranty period. Maybe they want to push powerwall sales -- but if you have a giant powerwall already sitting in your garage, running the house on it for a few hours a day seems like it could be worth it?
