Hey everyone,

I searched and found some threads about Autosteer but they were from last May.

Is there any update on if/when we can expect Autosteer for CT without full self driving? Every Tesla I've owned (3) before CT had Autosteer without FSD. I miss it big time, for me it's perfect, I like it better than FSD.

Thanks

Same. I’m hoping they can at least implement it for highways but I have doubts since they wouldn’t be able to get as much user data for FSD if they gave us the option not to use it. My FSD awareness system is so buggy that I can’t even use it.

Mine is about perfect. I’d be interested in when/how it’s not working for you.

It makes horrible decisions about changing lanes on the freeway. It wants to get out of the HOV lane at every section that allows for it no matter what is around me. Makes you look like a crazy person canceling the turn signal all the time.

When I found myself anxiously trying not to blink too much because literally everything I did was resulting in awareness alerts and found myself swerving into other lanes trying to over-compensate for the lack of sensitivity for steering wheel nags, I realized it just wasn’t worth it. I’ve noticed that there is a group of people who have little issue and those that can’t hardly get it to work. My guess is that it’s not calibrated for variables in seat height, seat tilt, face shape, facial hair, and accessories (glasses, hat, etc).

Even though I have the navigation set to use HOV lanes, mine will literally attempt to cross the double white HOV lines randomly (no need to exit for many miles). That’s a $490 ticket where I live.

Bummer for sure. Your analysis makes sense. Have you tried to cover the interior camera and go with steering nag technology? Depends on how much you really want to use it I’m guessing.

Does that work? I remember people stating on forums that it can detect obstructions.

It disables FSD.

FWIW, Autopilot now uses the camera as well, but currently you can cover that camera up on AP.

Your nag issue sound like an issue local to your vehicle or usage. My wife is 5'1, I'm 6'3 with a beard and we use a combo of sun glasses, hats, etc. Neither of us nor anyone who drives our CT has issues...you just have to keep constant eyes on the road. Looking at the screen, even to look where the blue line is going is an issue.

AP isn’t an option on CTs is it? All I saw was FSD and cruise control.

No, but on other vehicles that have AP, they enabled the camera for detection.

Wish we could get a statement from Tesla on Autosteer for the Cybertruck. Use it all the time on the X. Mostly just want to know so I can stop thinking about it lol

There are people that will swear on a stack of bibles that they only look away for a moment, when in fact the system will not bleep you for many seconds (maybe 10? I haven't timed it). So they end up in nag mode or even getting strikes. These are people I don't want to be anywhere near when I am driving. And for the record, I don't think that anyone with fewer than 3 people in the vehicle should be allowed to use the HOV lane. In fact, I think that we should get rid of them altogether. I do not like people pretending to be special when most of them are openly violating the terms of the HOV sticker (in terms of income).

If lane centering (autosteer) can be done within the FSD stack ...
Then is Tesla purposely not including that feature in the Base Autopilot suite (2 features/parts)

Guess ... so they can twist peoples arms to purchase FSD for profit and raising FSD sales counts?

Cybertruck does not have both actual autopilot suite of two features like every other Tesla. It only has TACC. Manual confirms it. See below.
Autopilot = Autosteer (lane centering) + TACC (aka. Adaptive Cruise Control)
If a Cybertruck owner did not purchase FSD (exits, etc) then they'd not have Autopilot just TACC (distance following) but not lane centering.

Tesla Model X manual shows complete Autopilot with TACC and Autosteer.

Tesla Cybertruck manual showing missing AutoSteer (2nd part of Autopilot)
NOTE:
Its carefully says "Autopilot [partial] Features" not "About [complete] Autopilot".

For the issue with trying to leave the HOV lane, what if you leave it in hurry mode? When I'm in hurry mode it seems to want to stay in the far left lane. I use standard so it will get over. The nag seems a little more sensitive, but I suspect it does have something to do with height and eye levels because my FSD has been amazing with drives that take an hour or two through big cities. I do tend to keep my hand with torque on the wheel since I'm used to that from my previous Tesla, so maybe that is a part of it.
