Awful panel alignment after cantrail replacement

How easy is it to get access to that nut? I am unsure of how to get it exposed like that.

Congratulations on getting it very good I‘d say.
I had mine done. After repair, one side was pretty much perfect, the driver side was high near the truck bed connection(see below photo). I complained and they did it again. Still high. I complained and they worked on it for another couple hours and still high but the explanation was that they couldn’t make it better, so I accepted what they said and left the repair center.
Question: It IS better now, this photo was after the first repair. But is this alignment something I can fix? It is still not perfect. Using the bolt described in this thread?

Indeed unacceptable to have these so badly fitted. I need to file another service appointment just to get them adjusted. Seems quite complex to do that yourself.

They BS me when I picked it up after the recall saying the new attachement system didn’t let them adjust them properly.

The truck is amazing, not being able to get little things like this down right is frustrating.

I think Tesla needs a new VP of service center, whoever that is. The results collide with the rest of the brand. The service booking and execution is good; the results for things like this are underwhelming. Tired of being told “that’s normal” for things that definitely aren’t.

I picked up the truck right after they closed and it’s about an hour drive from my house. And I have an appointment to get my truck wrapped on Monday so I couldn’t risk them holding onto it any longer. I got it resolved myself for the most part. Good enough for me

I hope you are successful.

My rails were also perfectly aligned and not lose. I pointed that out when I brought it in and emphasized that I wanted the work performed to that standard. The response was a little sarcastic, that of course they will be precisely aligned. After the second service call they stated that the problem was with the design and that there was nothing they could do. I also had the light bar installed, which was a sloppy install with adheasive left on areas of the windshield that should have been properly taped off, and residue from a spray… but aligned properly.

I will reach out to the escalation team and customer support.

I had mine done recently. Passenger side already had deep scratches when I went to pick it up. Showed the CSR and he made notes for a second visit to replace it and he apologized. After paying more close attention to drivers side it also had deep scratches. The passenger side was poorly aligned. I had the same thing OP had with the drivers side being caved in. I think I was their first one though based on comments about them watching videos on how to install it.

I have a service appointment next week for tire rotation and cant rails. A little worried after seeing all these pics of poor work. Might be a dumb question but my rails seems sturdy and aligned properly now, is it a good idea to just cancel the cant rails work and leave my original on there? Would I be liable if a year or so later it flew off on the road if I cancel this service appointment?

My driver’s side rail was vibrating at certain speeds and it was annoying and I was worried it would get worse, come off during a long trip, or in traffic-so I got mine replaced.
But, if I were you, I would not do anything right now. Let your service center become more expert at the replacement.
I can’t speak to your liability.

Yeah, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I regret most of my service recalls, everything (trim-wise) came back worse than it was when it went in, and nothing was about to fall off.

I did. My cantrails are solid and properly aligned, I'm going to leave well enough alone.

I also cancelled the wiper-motor replacement. The issue was that the 3rd-party vendor was overstressing the motor when testing them, causing damage to the driver circuit that would make it behave oddly or fail. But I've been using the wiper every day for year without seeing an issue, so I'm not worried.

Same here, I have an upcoming service appointment and removed the Cant Rail replacement service item as mine are still solidly attached.

Did the cantrail recall, mine were near perfect alignment and didn’t even want to do this recall because of all the bullshit I’ve read about Tesla service centers

this was my first experience and this is the gap they left me with upon pickup

the hell is that? I complained and the service tech took another look, shrugged and said it’s within spec

Really turned me off the brand and I love my CT and give nothing but praise to strangers about it

I did. Mine came out better aligned than my previous ones and are now rock solid instead of having slight movement when being pushed on. There is hope!
