Hey all, I’ve had my CT for two weeks and picked up the Tesla brand bed divider - really awesome concept and nice hefty metal build (worth $350 still debatable, but it is cool).

Curious if anyone else who bought one noticed that it’s easy to install and align with the vault rail holes in the first third of the bed (closer to the tailgate) but as you approach the cab of the truck, it’s damn near impossible to lock the divider in because the alignment isn’t quite right on on passenger side vault rail. I had the SC take a look when they were addressing some other minor cosmetic delivery issues, and they claim that they measured the vault rails which match up and it’s probably an accessory issue rather than the rails being off…

I have one for my Toyota Tundra and love it, one nice feature is when you don't need it as a divider, you can secure it flat on the rails and it still allows you to use the bed to a certain degree with space underneath the divider when suspended flat on the rails.
I plan on getting one for the CT, but am worried about storage when not in use, I guess you can push it towards the end of the vault, but if it's going to be a problem as you describe I'm worried about my options.

So this one doesn’t stow flat (the design has pegs on the top to fit in the rails and the bottom has flat rubber wedges) - means you need to either take it out and leave at home or move it as close to the cab as possible (but then you can’t achieve a strong lock because of the issue I mentioned)

that seems, hard to understand

presumably, the accessory itself doesn’t change size or shape once moved from rear towards front - though some do discuss a reality distortion field nearer to the Cybertruck

when you say they measured the vault rails, were they describing measuring the length from eg the tailgate towards the cab, or instead the distance between the rails across the width of the bed?

Apologies for the confusion. To clarify, it’s not a width issue whatsoever. I think it’s an issue of the angle of the rail being slightly off on the passenger side versus the driver side of the bed.

As the rail approaches the cab of the truck, the slight variation in angle becomes an issue for aligning and inserting the divider into Holes along the passenger side rail. In effect, the holes will fit into the driver side rail, but not the passenger side rail as you approached the cab, although they work fine towards the tailgate.

The Tesla service center claims to have measured the height of the rails on both sides and are both the same l…

Yeah, it's possible one piece or the other is slightly bent or drilled wrong.

Accessories are, by definition, made separate from the vehicle, and sometimes have lower or higher tolerances than they should.

Anyone remember the carbon fiber winglets that didn't fit on Model 3s?

I would worry, though, the only way to find out which is which is to find someone else with the same accessory.

Yup, I could totally see that the rail heights are probably close enough to consider within spec. Period. Unfortunately, when you’re using this specific accessory, there isn’t as much tolerance to be off, because of how it attaches to the rails.

ok thanks for the clarification on which measure you’re describing

so let me get this straight (pun intended):

they measured the *height* of the rail on the right, and the height of the rail on the left … from, what?

the bed floor?

because if the bed floor / bed itself exactly level…

regardless, the SC’s suggestion that the accessory itself is tweaked seems… to not make sense

Yeah, I’m not sure where they measured the height of the rails from but I agree with you that it’s probably not a defective anccessory.

It’s more likely that either the truck bed is higher in one spot than the other or the rail is slightly at a different angle on one side than the other. At least the accessory works well towards the tailgate area, which is the more likely spot for it to be used. I just like to put it closer to cab when I’m not using it (mainly so I can fit my bikes in the bed).

Man I literally just ordered this accessory today before it was sold out. I won’t even have my truck until the end of Feb. I hope it works.

Well, it works for segmenting the first third of the bed - it just doesn’t lock in closer to the cab of the truck… so it sorta works?

Pictures and or video would help us non owners.
In your opinion, what’s it going to take to fix it? A custom cut divider or a new bed? Or Possibly some Elon cash?
