Yes, but the deposits were like a thousand or something and they blew through it in months.

They moved so quickly, that small changes in your response time and features ordered could massively change your position in the build queue.

And they did open it up to new orders without completing all the variants that people hoped for.

the Model Y isn’t a good proxy for anything, because it began deliveries during the beginning of COVID lock-down - started deliveries on March 13, 2020.

Exactly. This is the way they have always done it. Why would they suddenly change? It’s a matter of logistics: ramping production according to demand after they release the pricing and specs.

I hope I'm in an early geographic batch...... the MY came here early.... here's to hoping.

Everyone just has a reservation...no such thing as first in line because no one knows how many ppl are in front of them. The system is just used to track interest. They will sell to whoever is logistically easiest is my guess.

I don’t want my CT until sometime after Sept at least, therefore the order email will arrive in July

Isn't it bizarre that people believe that a company should release information based on what they want, and not what the company is ready to release? Isn't it bizarre that people want a company to set themselves up to fail so that the potential customers feel better about the knowledge that they have? Isn't it bizarre that people think all this information is set in stone and the company is just refusing to release it out of some game they are playing?

This is not about our thirst for information, this is about billions of dollars that they can lose if they don't get this right. If you truly want a CT and the company to last long enough to support it, you have to let them release the information on their terms, not ours.
