In 2 years please let me know what percentage of the full size truck market the cyber truck has.
Said folks in 2021 as the Model Y became the best-selling vehicle in the US and worldwide 2 years later.

Yes, he also said they were struggling to get their 4680 production costs down. That they are currently at a cost disadvantage to current purchase prices of batteries, but hopefully will meet them by year end. making them themselves in the U.S. should matter more though once they get to selling in the tax credit range.
He said that due to the recent demand loss by legacy companies decided to scale back. He followed that comment up with, if the demand was where it was a few months back, for battery cells, the 4680 would always be at a cost advantage. Regardless, he sees that happening soon.

Good to read or listen to the whole presentation;)

Agreed!
29 CYBERTRUCKS were delivered in 'one shot' .....NOT very 'niche' from where l stand. Has that even happened before with anything in the 'Truck World'?
Also, were the buyers all treated to a slice of 'quiche' .....afterall, real CT Owners EAT Quiche!
Oooh, I do love quiche

If 1/3 of the market buys your vehicle, it's an outstanding success!
And the other 2/3 of the people are likely people who weren’t ever in the truck market because of how weird traditional trucks looked. Then CT came along and they become truck owners. Oh sorry talking about myself. I am sure no one else is like me, niche and likes quiche. ?

Go look at the number of Ford Pickups that start in the high $70's BEFORE you add things.
The average cost of an F Series truck purchased is $35,372.

People point out the higher trims as a comparison, but those aren't the ones selling at massive volume.

It's true there is a limit of people who will buy vehicles over $60k.

/r/electricvehicles (and the Reddit, in general) is so funny because they think and pray that CT is still going to flop. They posted an article able how CT was already outselling competitors and turned it negative. It's either so polarizing that nobody will buy it after FS or the roads will be full of them and nobody will want it anymore because it's not special.

Haha yeah it's crazy how many tech bros who typically drive sedans will switch to CT. If Tesla came out with a CyberVan first, I think many of us would have gotten that but now we're all truck people instead.

Man, I would have bought that in a heartbeat.

My favorite cartoon growing up was Scooby Doo. That CyberVan would have been wrapped as the Mystery Machine. LMAO

I did listen to the whole presentation, he said hopefully by the end of the year Tesla's cells would be cost competitive, that he couldn't predict market prices for other producers and that Tesla would continue to produce cells itself as an important hedge even if those prices stay low or lower.

I wouldn't be surprised though if Tesla began using outside suppliers for Cybertrucks when they get to the RWD version.

Then you have to look at the ID.Buzz on sale later this year. Not a Tesla, but definitely an EV.
