I used the mobile cable that came with the truck, put on the right 14-50 plug, put it into the 220v outlet in the truck, and charged my wife's Model Y at 11kw. No problems.I'm looking for some help from someone who has been successful using their 220V outlet in the CT bed to power the mobile charger to charge another Tesla.
When I set this up, the mobile charger indicates it has power (1 green steady light), but when I plug in the charger to another Tesla (Model 3), the charger clicks after 1-2 seconds and power is lost. I can reset everything, but I get the same result. It seems like the internal GFCI for the mobile charger is tripping. I have tried different variations to see if I can localize the problem on a piece of gear, but no luck. tired using different mobile chargers (but they are Gen1--don't know if that makes a difference),
...all with same results.
- tired using different mobile chargers (but they are Gen1--don't know if that makes a difference)
- tried charging a different Tesla,
- tried dialing down the amps from 32 to 10,
- confirmed that mobile connector works with wall 14-50 outlet,
- tried hooking things up in a different order,
- tried all combinations of resets
The one thing I haven't tried is to power something else other than a Tesla charger with the 14-50 outlet. I have no other device that fits that. I believe it is providing power based on the CT screen and the green light on the charger when plugged in (before trying to pull current through it.)
I suspect either I am missing some configuration setting or that my Gen3 mobile is somehow defective.
I set up a service call, but I'd still like to figure this out, if I can. Any ideas?
Thanks!
