I'm looking for some help from someone who has been successful using their 220V outlet in the CT bed to power the mobile charger to charge another Tesla.

When I set this up, the mobile charger indicates it has power (1 green steady light), but when I plug in the charger to another Tesla (Model 3), the charger clicks after 1-2 seconds and power is lost. I can reset everything, but I get the same result. It seems like the internal GFCI for the mobile charger is tripping. I have tried different variations to see if I can localize the problem on a piece of gear, but no luck. tired using different mobile chargers (but they are Gen1--don't know if that makes a difference),
  • tired using different mobile chargers (but they are Gen1--don't know if that makes a difference)
  • tried charging a different Tesla,
  • tried dialing down the amps from 32 to 10,
  • confirmed that mobile connector works with wall 14-50 outlet,
  • tried hooking things up in a different order,
  • tried all combinations of resets
...all with same results.

The one thing I haven't tried is to power something else other than a Tesla charger with the 14-50 outlet. I have no other device that fits that. I believe it is providing power based on the CT screen and the green light on the charger when plugged in (before trying to pull current through it.)

I suspect either I am missing some configuration setting or that my Gen3 mobile is somehow defective.

I set up a service call, but I'd still like to figure this out, if I can. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I used mine to charge another Tesla that was out of juice on the side of the road so they could get to a charger. It worked, but it was very slow.

Have you tried the 120V outlet/ adapter combination? Doubt it will make a difference, but curious.
Need another Powershare Mobile Connector to test with. Either it is too leaky (current wise) or the Cybertruck is too sensitive.

I have not tried the mobile connecter using 110V. I'll give it a shot.
I may swing by my local Tesla SC to see if they would lend me a Gen3 mobile charger.
Thanks!

What happened to the charger that was included with your truck? From what I have seen in videos it works fine with that charger.

Sorry...let me clarify. I've been trying with the mobile charger that came with the CB. It is a Gen3 mobile charger (all black). I also tried with my other mobile chargers, which are Gen1 (silver and black). All exhibit the same behavior: 1-2 seconds of power before an audible trip.

I had no problem with charging my wife’s Model Y with the Tesla charger that came with either the truck or the Model Y.

Sorry if you already know this (but it took me a bit to figure out)...
You have to turn on the outlet on the touch screen then choose the option to keep the outlet powered on for 12 hours (separate toggle). If you don't do this, the outlet will just power off when the vehicle locks.

Thank you HornedHelmet for starting this thread. This is a test I didn’t think of conducting until now. Being able to help a fellow Tesla owner who’s run out of charge would make my day.

On a related note, a few months ago I purchased a Lectron Tesla charging extension cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B99CQVQ6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) in order to access the Universal Wall Connector I use for solar charging both my MYP & FS. I will add that extension cable to my long trip checklist once I verify it’s compatible with the Cybertruck when trying to charge another Tesla Since its 20’ long & might make the ‘rescue’ a little safer, especially if it’s on an interstate freeway.

Unfortunately, the extension cable is currently unavailable on Amazon.

Have you tried lowering the charge rate on the vehicle you're trying to charge? It might not handle the full 32amps of the mobile charger. Set it to something low and work up.

I'm pretty sure I did this, but I will try again and ensure all the "switches" are in the right position. Thanks.

Yes, I dialed down the rate to 10A. Thanks for the suggestion. I will do another set of tests today. If nothing improves, I will see if I can find a Gen3 (the one that comes with CT) charger to try.
